I have a FHA loan. I have paid a company that was supposed to help me get my mod after being formally denied twice. I can't get anyone at that company to return my calls with a status update. Today I called the loss mitigation department at the number found here and somehow ended up getting transferred to customer service, disconnected, called again and then someone who I thought was the loss mitigation program. He said that they last reviewed my file on 9/29 when the company I hired updated my financials. They closed my file on 9/30 since I don't qualify for MHA (which I already knew from the 3 other times I called). I haven't received any kind of notice from BofA or the company I hired regarding that. I asked that he re-submit it for in house programs. As he started to process it apparently their system went down. He said to try back later and gave me a direct line- 800-669-0102. I just called back and found out that this is actually the home retention department. Is this who I am supposed to be speaking to? They have already denied me 2 times in writing and 3 times verballly. I am running out of time and just want to make sure that I am speaking to the right people. Oh, and their system is still down. It was recommended that I call back tomorrow. Should I continue trying with the home retention team? If they can't modify me, should I contact NACA? Has anyone had any success with them after BofA denied them? I would like to dissolve my contract with the company I hired since 1)they aren't doing anything and 2)if they get any type of resolution I have to pay another $1700. I am leery to cancel the contract being so close to my sale date because they are sure they can at least get it pushed back but on the other hand, I can't afford to pay them $1700 more for not doing anything or doing something I can do on my own or for with a non-profit company. |

I know that you, too, can request the auction date be pushed back -- but I don't know if there are magic words? Are you in a hardship? have they offered you anything? Don't let yourself be a victim here. . . contact NACA, HOPE, and anyone that you have not called yet. And while you are awaiting call-backs. Pack and be ready to leave. I'm sorry to say that. . . . Best wishes . . . . OH, please sign our petition to congress and leave a comment RE the Huffington article, linked below. Thanks!

I am still in hardship but things have improved since I first started defaulting on my loan last December. I am finally caught up enough that starting this month, if I were to really stretch my budget and only allow about 75 for gas and groceries, I could make the current payment. I don't know how feasible it would be for me to make the current payments on an ongoing basis. The only thing that they've offerred me is a repayment plan that would increase my current payment in addition to tacking on another $650 or so for the next 7 months. |
