Is it unusual?

Is it unusual to not hear from BofA even if you have not paid for more than 3 months. I have a co-worker who is trying to modify with BofA. She was told the same thing I was told that she needed to be past due in order to be helped. She decided to stop paying her monthly mortgage. She has set the money aside and has been waiting for BofA to call but NOTHING. She got a letter of intent to accelerate about 1 1/2 after she stopped paying but nothing more. Her regular monthly bill comes with a notice stating that she is past due but nothing else.

Is this normal for BofA? I gotta tell you, it doesn't put a lot of faith in ANYONE there.

Thanks

Normally they would have made a ton of collection calls by now. But since there are so many homeowners deliquent on their mortgage they are very backed up. They will not call you and ask if you want a modification just because you fell behind, you need to call in and request a modification from your lender..

Re: Is it unusual?

Rosecafe, speaking from experience, it IS normal to 'slip thru the cracks' and not receive calls from BofA. We are 13 months behind and have only received maybe 4 collection calls the ENTIRE time. Some people here on the boards say they receive collection calls excessively. I'm not sure what determines who gets called and who doesn't.

Yes, we are in a Special Forbearance right now...we made our first payment this month. We are keeping our fingers crossed that in January, this turns into a permanent mod.

Re: Is it unusual?

Good luck I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Do you mind if I ask how long it took you to get to where you are?

I am just a few months behind an am a nervous wreck. Can't sleep, can't eat. I really want to keep our home, just looking for a reduction in interest until things with the economy and our financial position change.

Why does it have to be so hard?

Rosecafe, I contacted BofA (they were Countrywide at the time) before we were even late and I was told we did not qualify for ANY programs and to put our house up for a short sale. I didn't believe them and didn't want to lose my home, so I kept calling and bugging them. They finally agreed to "review" my account..that took from Oct. to Jan. and they denied me without ANY reason at all..they tried to blame the investor. To tell you the truth, I really got nowhere with them until I sought NACA's help. I really feel that if I wouldn't have signed up with NACA, I would have lost my home.

The most important thing is to not give up...that's what they want you to do! I have dodged FOUR auction/sale dates because I am SO determined to keep my home! I have made this my life's work for the past 13 months. Try writing letters to your state senators and congressman and ask them to send BofA letters on your behalf.

Best of luck to you! Keep me posted on how things go!
