The Run Around

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting (been reading for about a month). Here's my story; I'll try to keep it brief...and I'd like to add a big THANK YOU for all of the wonderful information provided on this forum!

In March of 09 my husband, who is a project manager for a home builder, receives a 25% pay cut. In addition to that, his $300 monthly gas allowance is cut completely. In June our once great health insurace is changed to a high deductible policy. Everything is now out of pocket for us. Thankfully, none of us (myself, DH & 9 year old son) has any ongoing medical issues.

May- After checking to see if we qaulified on makinghomeaffordable.gov , I call BOA to inquire about modification. The rep takes my financial info over the phone and gives me the number to fax in my documents.

June-I hear nothing. When I call I'm told it's "under review".

July- Nearing the end of July I call and am told that BOA does "things" differently now and I would have to re-submit all of my paperwork and fax it in "10 page incriments".

August- Email BOA and that very same day receive phone call from Mercy Camou who assigns me a negotiator named Neil Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez calls the same day & assures me he has all of my paperwork. He tells me that it could take 8 weeks to receive an offer but that being we are current on our mortgage he's not sure they will offer anything at all. He gives me his direct extension line and tells me to call if I have any questions or to check the status.

September- BOA website status shows my information is "in review" and not to call customer service until 9/30/09. I call Mr. Hernandez and get his voice mail. (this goes on a few times) He never returns my call.

October- Call Mr. Hernandez again to no avail. Call customer service.. I'm transferred a couple of times and then am told that my case is being handled by an "advocate" named Hussein Vayne (??) Before I could ask the rep to spell that name, I am immediately transferred to Hussein's voicemail...where I left a message which has not yet been returned.

I don't know what to do at this point besides wait. I'm trying to keep positive but juggling the bills is wearing me down. Moving out of my beloved NJ (yes, I said it ) to be free of these taxes is sounding better all the time.

I wish you all the best of luck.

Maggie

Hi Maggie, trust me, I know how you feel. I've gotten the runaround since April. I'm not kidding, but everyday, I have a new negotiator. First I'm not approved, then approved , then denied....the list goes on. Good luck. Hope you hear from one of them soon.

Instead of calling the customer service I would go ahead and follow up with the loss mitigation dept as they seem to be much more knowledgable. Also I would make sure to follow up on your case at least once or twice a week so nothing falls through the cracks. Since you have not talked to a negotiator in a month or so it would be wise to continue to call until you can get someone on the phone who can give you status on your case..

Re: The Run Around

Welcome and sorry to hear of your frustrations. This is definitely not an easy process. The more I read new stories, the more I realize I would have likely been in this same boat if it weren't for this forum and having the good fortune of another member with the same negotiator telling said nego to work on my case next. I strongly believe that is the only reason I got bumped up in the queue...my nego humored the request to work on mine by calling me up that same evening. Otherwise, I'd probably not have heard anything or been passed off to someone different. It's a real crap shoot, and just when you think you're getting somewhere, you take a wrong turn (nothing you did of course). We truly are at their mercy! I wish you the best of luck!

Melanie, I think they do this to us hoping we will give up out of frustration. Best of luck to you as well.

Thanks you for sharing your story ama. It's comforting to know that at least some people are being helped. It keeps the hope alive.

Re: The Run Around

So sorry you're getting the run around - happened to me for almost a year, although from Wells Fargo instead of Chase.

Hang in there, & good luck! You are not alone!
