I have been trying to get on the Obama plan since the beginning of March when it was launched. CW is giving nothing but run around. BS stories about how I have to be past due. I am currently current and am running out of funds soon. My wife is out of work and we are using our savings to compensate for missing money. I have tried 30 different reps today at CW and got no where. I called my congressman to let them know they are not helping out homeowners after they signed a contract to take money from the Feds and utilize federal programs. Will NACA be able to help me if I am current with a 6.75% fixed mortgage. If I could get the interest rate reduced that would help me free up at least $200 a month which I can use desperately right now. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It seems like CW is giving the run around to everybody. I literally was on the phone this morning for hours trying to get somewhere. They keep putting me off saying that they will call me in two weeks. They have done this three different times. Thanks in advance.

Re: Countrywide non responsive to federal programs They have done the same to me as well. My wife is out of work too. We are still current, but our savings is running out. Since March 6th, I have been told to call back every two weeks until today when I was told it will take 90-120 days to hear back. CW said I could call as much as I would like but they are too busy to get back to me any earlier, even then I was told I may not qualify. I have made up my mind to go with NACA. I have nothing to lose. We as individuals have no bargaining power. I can just tell that the banks have no intention of really following making home affordable plan and will only do a few just to say they are doing something.

Re: Countrywide non responsive to federal programs We haven't gotten anywhere trying to deal directly with CW either. Today my husband was on the phone with a rep talking about our options and they just don't know what they are doing! So when will they figure it out? When it's too late for us and our credit is ruined? My husband was asked if we had been offered a forebearance. Like that helps??

Re: Countrywide non responsive to federal programs I started calling CW in October 08, got the runarounds and all the rest that everyone here seems to experience. Finally, got someone in California to listen to me and then I got 3 "loan mods" in 3 weeks! All BS, just tacking on many thousands of dollars to my principal and lowering my monthly payment a little bit for 5 years. I told them it was unacceptable, haven't paid March or April yet and sent in my info to NACA...have a phone appt with them tomorrow evening. Keeping my fingers crossed.... In the meantime, I am sending emails to all the government officials I can find to let them know the games Countrywide/Bank of America are playing with the taxpayer bailout money....who is going to be held accountable for what these companies are putting their customers through especially if it's a hardship situation? I will never understand why they won't lower the rate but would rather sell it as foreclosure or short sale - if they lowered the rate the original homeowner would wind giving them just as much in interest and sometimes more than a short sale would.....

I would give NACA a call and see what they say or go to NACA website and read what qualifies. Many people just go through NACA and don't even bother with CW as they are just useless most of the time. Who's got the time to waste a day on the phone w/ them getting nowhere ? No on. It just causes high blood pressure anyways | |

Re: Countrywide non responsive to federal programs You should write to the Government Accountability Office U.S. Government Accountability Office (U.S. GAO) as this is who handed over the money to the banks. I would report them to HUD too as they are listed as a company that signed the Making Homes Affordable Agreement. I am only just starting the process so I am going to wait a few weeks before I start playing hard ball.

Re: Countrywide non responsive to federal programs I would not bother beating heads against the wall trying to get somewhere with CW. The only way they will respond is if you have a place like NACA representing you. Otherwise you are dealing with drones that have no clue, nor do they care about you. At least I felt like NACA was decent enough to care and although they are direct, they never make you feel guilty about your situation. They are there to do a job and they do it well! The next phase after NACA is to bombard government officials...that is my next endeavor.

Re: Countrywide non responsive to federal programs Here is my lastest run in with CW and part of my on going journal; 4/13/09 – I called Countrywide back today at 5:15pm CDT. I spoke to a Claudia. She said my workout was still being reviewed, but only under the Bank of America workout plan and no decision will be made until May 16th. I advised her I specifically applied for the “Making Home Affordable” government program. Claudia said they do not work the programs by request and will only do a modification based on what her computer tells her. I demanded to speak with someone who could sign me up for the “Making Home Affordable” government program. She said only the refinance team could do this. She transferred me to them and I was on hold for 15 minutes, once they answered they told me I will need to go back to the modification team. When I was sent there, I was actually sent to a foreclosure team where they told me to call 800-556-9568 and press once I entered my account number. They transferred me back to the modification team, which is where I started out. I spoke to a woman who told me it will take 90-120 days before I will hear back from them about any status, approved or denied. I said that is not acceptable. The woman became angry and interrupted me. She said there are over 1 Million people asking for modifications, which I said is not the customer’s problem it is theirs. I also found out my loan is categorized as a 30 year fixed BC which is a subprime loan. In the end I decided to apply for modification assistance from NACA “Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, a certified HUD counseling agency. I do not want to deal directly with countrywide again.

Re: Countrywide non responsive to federal programs I was told by countrywide yesterday that we might qualify for a program under the attorney general and to fax over proof of income??? Anyone hear this? I live in NH the fax number they gave me was 1-800-658-9364. They already have everything under the sun from me...so not sure what this is.

Re: CW Legal Dept unfortunately no matter who you talk to at countrywide you will not get any answers. i think they all read from a printed sheet. i have been trying for 8 months to get some kind of help and info but nothing. i even have my hud counselor and a state person from who i received a grant to help us payoff what we owe and they still will not talk to us. i am at my wits end, now i had to get a lawyer bc i was served with foreclosure papers but no date set yet. they say they want you to stay in your home but i really dont think that is true. you should definitely get in touch with a HUD representative in your area bc CW will not help you but HUD may be able to give you more info as to what to do. go to www.hud.gov to find someone in your area.
