We suffered a setback when my husband, a contractor broke his arm (self-employed, not insured). We used our savings to pay medical bills, then got behind in our slow period (Michigan Jan. to Mar.) We caught up then the recession hit our small town. We went on repayment plan of $2000 per month (from $1500). We made 3 payments then heard about modification being offered. We went to the Benzie Housing Council and requested help. They told us NOT to make our next payment. We did not feel comfortable with this and called Countrywide. They agreed with not making the January payment. Unfortunately The Benzie Housing Council dropped the ball and did nothing with our account. For 8 weeks they did not contact us or Countrywide (yes we left countless messages with BHC and could not get a hold of anyone or were told they would "check and call us back"). When we got a hold of our worker she said, "don't you know you are in foreclosure?" We do now. We have tried to contact Countrywide MANY times to get the amount to pay. We put it aside knowing we owed it, but were told not to pay it. We have received 5 different dates for our sherriff's sale ( I got three different dates in one phone call today). How do I make them tell me how much to pay and how to pay it? How do I get it in writing? We were told we are in modification, I need to get the foreclosure out of the equation. |

I requested the figures from CW no less than 6 times! Our attorney contacted their foreclosing attorney and huh, he had the figure within 24 hours! |

I am way behind, but not in foreclosure status, so I have limited experience with getting a sale date stopped. Does anyone know the number to give to Lara for the department that investigates this stuff? I used to have it, but I can't find it now......... Hang in there, many of the members here have gotten a sale date cancelled...... |
