    Citi declined our app for HAMP tier 2 mod in just 11days...

    Back again for round two of the Hamp tier 2 mods, we have more loss of income yet again since 2010 hamp 1

    Just happen to work out this way that the goverment came out with the hamp tier 2 june first and we were reaching out to citi for help because of loss of income and hardship problems..
    Much smoother this time around from the start...but it seems before it even really got started it was over...
    Citi got our app august 4th and by August 16th i called in to check on a document that our online account was asking for again to find out that they had declined our hamp 2.....
    we are in shock that the turn around was just 11 days and was declined from the underwriter...the reason i got from the customer service rep was that they didnt want us to loose good standing on our current hamp and loose the incentive..
    She was reffering to the $1000 a year for keeping our loan current...
    they have yet to offer us anything else or give us a clearer reason for declline...they told us that we could apply for something else in hopes that we might qualify for a diff program...but could not do anything till monday as our account is locked because of the decline till then.....
    we have had a loss of income and we are at 39 percent of our income for our current mortgage payment, so not sure whats going on...our home is underwater as well...

    anywone with any thoughts as to why or what is going on or can they do that would be greatly appreciated..
    And can we reapply again?...we are so close to going over the 30 days late...just hanging on and getting tired and drained from just trying to make ends meet.

    thanks

    They did that because you are not in default, part of the eligibility of being considered for the Tier 2 HAMP is;

    A mortgage loan on which the borrower lost good standing under a HAMP Tier 1 permanent modification, and, at the time of evaluation for HAMP Tier 2, at least 12 months have passed since the HAMP Tier 1 Modification Effective Date.

    Also;

    A Non-Approval Notice must be mailed no later than 10 business days following the date of the servicer’s determination that a TPP or a permanent HAMP modification will not be offered. Such determination must be made within 30 calendar days of receipt of the Initial Package.

    Thanks Cat, for your responce ....That is what I thought...So if we were to let it go 60 days late , would we be able to reapply for the tier 2 hamp ? it has been two years since we got our first hamp ... so because we are struggling to make the mortgage and have let everything else go we are being punished basically for keeping the mortgage no more than 30 days late...
    Do you think that Citi will come back and offer us some kind of traditional Mod since we did not qualify for the hamp?

    I appreciate your input...

    Thank you

    They would have to look into all available options, but unfortunately it isn't a guarantee that you will be eligible for another modification.

    I just looked over your other threads that you started and noticed that your loan is backed and serviced by Citi, if this is still the case, then you may want to look into the recent National Mortgage Settlement modification instead. According to Citi's Q&A;

    My loan was modified before. Can I still get help?

    You may be eligible for additional assistance if your loan was previously modified. Solutions will be available to
    borrowers with prior modifications who meet other eligibility requirements. Please call 1-866-272-4749† for assistance.
    Hours of operation are Mon-Fri 8 AM to Midnight ET and Sat-Sun 8 AM to 8 PM ET. We will evaluate you for eligibility under the
    settlement programs. In addition to the settlement, CitiMortgage, Inc. will continue to provide solutions for borrowers that
    are in need of assistance. If you need more immediate assistance, we may be able to help you lower your payment now.

    Although there isn't any mention of if it was a HAMP modification, but you should definitely try this route and see if your loan is eligible.

    Please keep us posted on what you find out, and do ask if your loan is eligible for this program even if you have to escalate to the executive team here;

    Just got off the phone with citi rep in home owner support team...I was told that if we were able to get the National Mortgage settlement that it would have come up when our numbers and info was run...They said that is available only in certain areas...They told us to wait 90 days and reapply if something has changed...so we are basically beat ....Well this months mortgage payment was already running 29 days late...but I can not live by this thread anymore and will prob. not be able to make it on time....so that will put us 30 days late...and by 90 days from now maybe another payment will also be missed...Going into the hospital for more surgery in two days and i am so stressed from this mess...only going to get worse im sure...but we are so upset that we reached out to citi and basically there is no hope till we are behind....

    Thanks Cat for your responces...

    I am so sorry that they are giving you the runaround, the only area that the DOJ settlement program isn't available in is the state of Oklahoma, it is available everywhere else as long as the criteria is met. I have given the link to this thread to a Citi contact that has been helping members of LoanSafe with their questions and issues, hopefully he can take a look and see if you would be able to be looked at for this program.

    Give them time, it is an extremely busy department. Someone should get back to you within 24-48 hours, if not, send a reply back from the email you received.

    Good morning Cat,

    after 3 days I did just get a call from the executive responce team...His name was les and was very informative, but the bottom line is , that we are not at least 60 days behind...Eventhough the National mortgage settlement does state that you do not have to be behind we would not qualify at this time...other factors being we do hot have a high interest rate of say 8 or 9 percent ..we have already have a hamp from 2010 with an interest rate of 4.12 percent which will reset at like 4.75 come 2015...increasing our loan another $150 amonth....my problem with that is, they acknowledged that we do have a hardship case...we just have not let our loan go past due...and of coarse they encourage you not to let your loan get past due...

    We would have a 60 day default if we were unable to make our mortgage payments , but we have barrowed money from a family member for a few weeks at a time to make the mortgage and then have to pay back that family member...so robbing peter to pay paul...and i did explain that to him...

    He did tell me to call him back again if things changed and he would help us with another application for ham or anothe program..
    So basically why fix what aint broken yet...

    So doing the right thing is not always the right thing...lol go figure..

    Thanks again for the contacts and all your help...its much appreciated..
