Disabled Veterans Get Help From CitiMortgage to Reduce Mortgage Payments

    To Whom it May Concern:

This was a nightmare talking to CITI about this subject:
Disabled Veterans Get Help From CitiMortgage to Reduce Mortgage Payments

I spoke to the department that deals with loan modifications at CITI and asked them about this program as I am a Disabled Vet who served and was injured in the line of duty. They told me that if I qualified, CITI would be sending out a letter regarding this from now until November 2012. I told the rep, that I do qualify and have the VA docs and everything to tie this together. WHY am I getting the run around? They told me I qualify right now for a loan mod but would require to lengthen the loan out to 30+ years again. I don't want that! I want to have my home paid off sooner than later as I am 48 years of age... HELP!!!

How many years do you currently have left on the mortgage? Unfortunately, almost all modifications will restart the loan to 30 or a 40 year term to make the payments more affordable.

I currently have 25 years remaining on the loan... It's a bit deceptive when they word it the way they did. I meet all the criteria for the Disabled Veterans piece. Why must I wait to "hear" from them in the mail to see if I qualify versus having the documentation already in my possession from my VA rep?
    Thank you...

The reason being is because it must be done through the company servicing your mortgage (Citi) and no necessarily the VA. Unfortunately, they are really no laws that pertain to loan modifications so these servicers are not forced to offer assistance within a certain amount of time.
