We have lived in our home for 12 years...For 8 of those years Citimortgage has had our "freddie mac" backed mortgage. We've never been late with our mortgage and have many improvements done to home I would estimate those improvements to be over 30K top of the $118,000 we paid for home and the land it's on plus bought additional land next to us for 12,500. We contacted Citimortage in January 2012 so that we can reduce our interest (considering everything else has gone up and paychecks stay the same). They told us absolutely! We reiterated to the person that called us back that it was a manufactured home...and he stated that will not be a problem as you've been our customer for a long time in good standing. We recieved a good faith estimate at 4% currently we're at 7.25%. We were excited as we opted to go with a 15 year note and at that rate our payment would be reduced by $100. We paid for the appraisal and have called and emailed them mutliple times, and the only response for the 2x times that she did call to say that our loan was in underwriting. Well today my husband called and they told us it was denied! Why? Because it's a manufactured home!!!! make a long story short...he requested to speak with a the manager and after a lengthly conversion she is suppose to call us back, as she's going to speak to "someone"..what ever that means. I have good credit standing...never been late on any of my bills. Take pride in my home and thus why we invested so much into it. The manager even commented our home was beautiful (based on all the pictures the appraiser took) when my husband said to her...so in other words you're basing this on the what you consider a trailer home and not by our merits!!! I'm so angry right now I can spit nails. I want my money back if they're not going to approve my loan. We plan on contacting the banking and loan state offices as well as federal...Is there anything else we can do! I would prefer to have this go through...my husband is ready to just walk away because of all the stigma surrounding a "manufactured home." Yet citimortgage has been taking our money all these year...really! Any thoughts! Thank you!
