How does Citi verify my information?

Recently I got a call from my loan account mgr at Citi. I'd been trying to get a mod for 6 months. She had been rerunning the numbers each week and finally I qualified.
She said I would get some documents in about 3 weeks and after I send them back my 3 month trial will begin.
My question is: does Citi do any verification of debt? Do they run a credit report to verify debt?

Yes, more often than not.

Yes they do. My negotiator told me that they do that to verify the debt u r reporting as opposed to whats on your credit report.
