| Citi Mortgage & Citi Financial Homeowner Help Center The great people at Citi Mortgage and Citi Financial (which are now merged) have contacted us at Loan Safe and asked that we make sure that their customers know that they are here to help them. I have been working...successfully...at getting a modification with Countrywide (who holds my first mortgage) with the advice I've read here, but not with Citi at all. I have called them and they are completely unwilling to do anything. I even called them today and it's the same story. Because we have a surplus of income they don't feel we should be behind. Unfortunately, because I lost my job last year and have had no luck finding a new one, we got behind on everything because we tried to keep up with everything. We have figured out that our priority is our mortgages and household bills and are working at getting back on track, but Citi says that isn't a good enough reason to be behind and there is nothing they can do. We are currently 3mos. behind with Citi, that will be down to 2mos. when we make our payment on the 15th. They absolutely refuse to do any kind of modification to help us catch up. They refuse to even do anything with the $800 of late fees they have added to our account, to help us have a more realistic amount to catch up. They said because we have a surplus of income on paper...by like $200...there is no reason for us to be behind, and because I haven't found a new job our situation hasn't changed so that they can't work with us. I'm pulling my hair out. I would think that because we do have a surplus of income without my working, they would try to help us catch the account up. Why do I have to find another job...which has proven impossible and I've all but given up...before they will try to help us? |

(They didn't ask for anything other household bills and we do have medical bills monthly...one son on meds for ADHD, daughter's orthodontist, and other son was in the PICU in July for a severe concussion that we have bills from) Our interest rate with citi is currently 13%. If we could get them to help us catch up the two payments we are behind and drop the rate a bit, we would have more of a cushion so that when things happen it doesn't force us not to pay a bill. (i.e. hot water heater we had to replace in Feb., $400 in school registration fees in May, $200 school supplies in August, etc., that we have to pay also) We can afford to live on the one income. It is tight, but we can...and have no choice with the job market the way it is. Countrywide is giving us some breathing room. It would be nice if Citi would try to work with us also. We can afford our home. (I didn't work when we got our home loans either) But when the slightest thing happens, we have no choice but to get behind. We don't have the money to "save for a rainy day." If our payment with Citi was lowered a bit, we probably could so that this doesn't happen again. |

I just called and found out today that mine is owned by Citi. Or would it have been better if the loan was owned by freddie mac or fanny may? |

We are very distressed and never in our wildest dreams would have thought we would be placed in this situation. But due to all the circumstances in the post and the fact that the current job is making only about 65% of what we use to make things are extremely difficult. Thank you for all that you have done for hundreds if not thousands like us. Blessings Sandy |

If the value of your house has fallen to any great extent, it stands to reason you MAY be elligle for the county to revisit your assessed value for taxes as well. At least this is what is happening here IF those involved take the time to do it. Also, our taxes went down by a whole $2.00 this year however Citi-mortgage has raised our escrow by $10 a month The insurance was not raised either! HUMMM! Carrie Carrie |

I contacted Citi via the email address you provided and got a response right away, they were so kind and polite...Sue at Citi stopped all the collection calls, walked me through the down load of the MOD applications and responded back after I faxed over the information with in 24 hours just to let me know that the paper work was recieved and they were reviewing. 48 hours later I recieved another call from Sue with Citi to let me know that we would be receiving a call from thier MOD department to go over the terms....48 hours after that I get the most fantastic call from Rene with Citi. They lowered our rate on the second mortgage by 4 points, extended our term which lowered our payment almost 400.00 per month AND took all the arrearages and moved them to the back of the loan interest free until the loan is actually paid off. This meant everything to us and the MOD even allowed for the next payment not to be due until January 2009. We are now able to get our car payments caught up, our household bills caught up and the very sanity of knowing now we do not have to go into foreclosure or be forced to sell our home. For all the readers I can tell you we were at the 90 day late mark and Citi helped us keep our home. Please pass on this contact information to everyone you know that has a Citi Mortgage and are having difficulty I know they will review every case and if it makes sense and they can help they will. My best wishes to Sue and Rene at Citi and THANK YOU SO MUCH for making a difference in our lives :-) All readers please pass on the information below it really helped us...Signed no longer desperate in Florida.
