To Pay or Not Pay?

I had an earlier thread, but here is a question I didn't post that I would like your advice on. I was denied for HAMP, but asked a supervisor today to reconsider since the underwriter used YTD which included an award/bonus paid in March. I have always said that these types of earnings can not be guaranteed, and they need to use my monthly base pay. He told me to send the paystub to him and he would forward to the underwriter asking her to review.

I have been making my trial payments (5 total) on the 12th of each month. I have not paid for Nov., since I don't know where I stand or what to do. I'm thinking if I have any chance of getting the modification, I need to get a payments to them. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I suggest you just keep paying the trial payments. We are finally starting to see permanent HAMP modifications but most of the borrowers are going on their 7th and 8th trial payment. Hopefully the underwriter will rework your financials without making you start the entire process over. Call in every couple of days to see how things are going.

interesting, as far as keep paying trail payments go, i asked the citi lost midigation dept. about that same question, i've been paying trail payments since feb.09. the lady told me that the trial period is for just 3 months and after that stop paying them, since i paid thru oct. 09 she also said i should be getting a check back soon for the over payments. so, here we go again citi giving out half truths or what? i still feel like a guinnie pig in this system and at the mercy of people that don't really know the whole truth about what they are telling us....so i didn't pay my nov. trail payment, am real close to a traditional mod. tho. maybe next week it will be done..thankful for that and if citi needs my little trail payment, well will just have to add it on to the end of the new mortgage..based on what there own dept. told me...i really don't care at this point what citi does will me..i'm disabled and have suffered all my life, so i'm use to it..whatever...jack c.

It wouldn't seem to make sense that we could stop after the 3rd trial payment and then not pay ANYTHING until a final mod outcome.

I would call again and talk to a different rep, otherwise keep making trial payments. And go ahead and make that November payment, better safe than sorry...

Amazing.. told they would refund the over 3 trial payments. That is really new. I think they have a bunch of new trainees although the zillions of folks I have talked to in loss mit have seemed mostly.. sharp.

that rep definitely does not know what she's talking about! Refund of trial payments! lol! Call back and speak to somebody more knowledgeable, they will usually put all these payments in a suspense account and apply as needed later on in the process.

You should probably continue to make your trial payments, but if you see you are heading toward your 8th or 9th, step it up a notch by asking to speak to managers etc. it should not take longer than this to get either an approval or denial.
