Question on strange calls from Citi

I am currently on a trial mod and for the past week I have been getting called at home from Citimortgage - a 636 number. When I pick up the phone I get a recorded message.

The message says "please wait for some important information from Citimortgage" then nothing.

I have called Citi and they have no idea what I am talking about.

Anyone else getting strange calls? The only thing I can think of is that it is collections who don't know about the trial mod - even though Citi says they are not calling me

You are probably getting calls from collections. The call should ask you to put in the last 4 digits of your ss number and then you will be told you are behind on your payment. The collections dept and the modification departments are not in synch. I went through this and got VERY upset. My citi negotiator told me to hang up the phone on them....they sucked my time and energy and all for naught. I did get a letter from Citi telling me no derogatory info has been sent to the credit reporting agencies.

Mortgages that are delinquent or have certain investors that participate in HAMP are in Dialer campaigns... A lot of clients get these calls even after setting up the trial.. There is a code somewhere that has not been updated. Once your account is coded correctly you'll stop getting calls.. A lot of times even the people that are calling you aren't sure why they are calling. 636 is citi though.. Answer and tell them you are on trial mod.. It happens all the time. Clients call back and I answer and it sucks cause I have no idea why they called either. Being honest.. Disconnect as someone else said is correct
