Citimort Trial Mod-crooks indeed. Unfair to Oregonians on unemployment

Today, Oct 26, Desha at Citimortgage told my husband that the "Underwriters" reject our modification although we are in the trial modification (paid 3 payments so far) through the Home Affordable Mortgage (HAM) program. The reason stated was that he cannot provide a document that will show at least 9 mos claim of unemployment benefits. But in fact he wrote a comprehensive detailed letter to go with his current claim documents and showed how he would have 9 months from now if they honored the way Oregonians get claims (you have to refile every so often). You dont get a 9 month claim document in Oregon. I think 6 months is the most and then you reapply-there are extensions.

Is there anything we can do? I think this means foreclosure for us.

THe crooks part is that we have been approved once in March for the same terms they spelled out this time-had a loan modification staff assigned to us-and was told it took 2 months -no less. That woman could never be found in the system again. Another person was about to approve our modification when everything stopped in an instant because we had asked for ACORN to help us get answers from them. That apparently sends you to a totally different dept which led to this. Acorn closed our case when our trial modification started. This time, we were "approved" by Doug Shulte (upon immediate phone transfer of a required sort of down payment on the trial plan) who said he was going to pick up where several left off essentially dropping the ball on us in the past- and he said just keep paying your trial payments and work with Desha -who by the way for the I forgot how many times now-asked us to resubmit the entire list of docs that we had sent many, many times now.

We have actually been asking for assistance from Citimortgage since my first phone call to them in January when we had no late payments yet. At that time before we were late they explained the very terms we might be able to get-forbearance that puts missed payments on the back end of the loan with no penalties, dropped interest rate which dropped our payment to 702 instead of 1200-ways to help someone in a crisis. THAT WAS IN JANUARY. Oh and once you are late-then you get to figure out how to break through the collections dept lies and talk to a human being. (Collections says things like-"you can only get a loan modification through me and since you don't earn enough money then you better try a short sale.")
But hundreds of dollars in faxes and now $2106 dollars in trial payments later as well as now it is end of October-they say no.

And as to the unemployment claim-when Doug Shulte said we were approved-my husband had less unemployment on his claim-the State of Oregon has since reworked his entire claim and started a new one over and so he has MORE time coming than we had previously reported in September.

Desha said that this is true for some other states too-they cant get enough proof of claims for the modifications.

Everything along the way was as if they wanted to invent new ways of jerking us around. Once they asked for a year of bank statements. When we printed them out from the online banking-they were rejected. We went to the bank. Manager of the bank said they would only sign each page and stamp and fax them directly to citimortgage if they agree that is what they want-too much time wasted otherwise. SO yes that is what they wanted. Fax was done, rejected. Only want the original bank statements-which we got but cost a lot of money to get a print of by the bank and faxed over. Each step like this takes A LOT of time, worry, money-for nothing. I have about a hundred stories like this about getting jerked around by Citimortgage. I wish we had never taken our loan out with them.

I am sorry to hear this. You will find many homeowners here just like yourself who have been getting screwed around by their lenders for many months now. I can only imagine the troubles you will have to endure due to the unemployment situation. They are really strict when it comes to the nine month requirement, but since your in Oregon they should make an exception.

Try calling this number it has worked for many in the past:

you can contact CitiMortgage at the number for LoanSafe members to begin the process of the modification...........

OK THanks Evan Bedard-I appreciate you responded so quickly. I think we started with than number ages ago but somehow ended up here in trial modification that is now getting cancelled. We will call it and see what they say.

Re: Citimort Trial Mod-crooks indeed. Unfair to Oregonians on unemployment

The man that did the trial mod plan with us called back and said he only writes a proposal and sends it to the "Underwriters" and Desha is the closer. He did not see anything unfair in requiring 9 months not counting reapplying, extensions etc for Oregonians. I just wanted to hear what he had to say about approving us for trial modification for something that is now rejected. Passing of the buck. Made it sound like they applied the trial mod payments to the loan and we still owe so what are WE complaining about. Who are these powerful "Underwriters?"
How do we get them to make an exception for us?
My husband left a message with a live human on the # you gave me.
Thanks
