Exclamation Tax question

I have not paid on mortgage for 8 months - subject of another thread. Tax bill just came for house. We pay taxes forward through Citi impound account. Who pays the taxes at this point? Should the account have the funds to pay it?

If we are moving to foreclosure do we or citi owe the taxes? What about when the foreclosure is complete?

We are in Oregon.

Thanks!

Re: Tax question

UPDATE!!

Escrow for taxes balance is $1100. Taxes due are about $2900. We anticipate that Citi will continue and we will foreclose in March and April w/o any resolution of the loans. Who will be responsible for the tax payment shortage?

Taxes are a lien on the house I believe so whoever owns the home is liable for the taxes. Citi will probably pay the taxes even though the escrow account doesn't cover them and come after you for the shortage - i.e., it will tacked onto whatever else you owe them in payments, late fees, etc.
