I was laid off in December 2008, and I have been trying to work out a loan modification since May 2009. I made the first trial payment back in June 2009, and the paperwork came after. I filled out the loan modification paperwork, double checked all the checklists, and sent it out certified mail. Citimortgage had then 1st payment on the loan modification paperwork as in July, but I figured it was no big deal, only an extra month. I am now into my 5th month, and nearing the 6th. Every time I call to find out where the final modification paperwork is, they tell me they are missing a document that I have already faxed or sent to them by certified mail. When I tell them that I have proof from the USPS that they recieved the paperwork in question, they tell me they dont have it and I need to resend. I have faxed to four different numbers, mailed certified, and mailed normally the same documents over and over. Today I was told I need to send an unemployment determination that I have sent four times, and was told they had on 7/16/2009. It seems to be the same paperwork over and over. Either the unemployment paperwork, bank statements, or the 4506-T form. I was told that my signature had expired on the tax form, and that it was common for them not to get back to you until the new signature is needed. I called back today to tell them again that they had the paperwork needed since July, and they told me to call Mortgage Outreach Services. Just last week someone at Citimortgage loss mitigation told me that they were not working with MOS anymore, but today they said they were. I called MOS, and they said they needed nothing, and that my file was sent to Citimortgage complete and closed with them. I was not behind when I started this process, and now I have dinged credit, which has caused companies like Bank Of America to raise my interest rate on a credit card. Why can't this just go through? Can anyone help me out on this? |

I'm really starting to think it is because of being unemployed, they are trying to wait until we find new employment (in this market) that's not going to happen. What it is called is "Self Cure". New job then they might not have to help you. |
