Mod approval... I think???

I won't bore you with the details, but after 7 months dealing with Citi, and having paid our third trial payment, I logged into our online account today at Citi and saw this:

10/01/2009 Your mortgage assistance request has been approved. Expect your mortgage solution package within the next 5 business days.

I had faxed in the additional paperwork a couple weeks ago(paystubs and bank statement) and was told by a very nice (new to us) Citi employee that Freddie Mac should decide within a week. So the timing seems right. I guess I was thinking someone would call me (naive, perhaps!).

I'm so leary of getting excited because I know how this can go, but gosh, it sure seems like it's been approved??? Of course it's Saturday and I have to wait until Monday to call to find out for sure. I haven't received the "solution package" yet.

Anyone else get this message online when logging into their account with Citi?

EXCITED, but GUARDED!!!

Re: Mod approval... I think???

me again: after reading the message further, I am getting the sick feeling that they are starting the whole process COMPLETELY over again!!!

Here's the second paragragh: We appreciate your patience during this time and look forward to helping you find a mortgage solution to manage your financial needs.

Sounds like we weren't approved after the trial??? UGH. I guess I shouldn't keep guessing and worrying and just call on Monday. SIGH.

Re: Mod approval... I think???

Teddyr-I hope what you saw becomes a reality. My situation is a little different. I was in Hamp, made one payment, then went through NACA. That was 8/1. On 8/19 I got the same exact message in the form of an e-mail. What I ended up getting 3 days later was an envelope sent by Fed-ex with 1 piece of paper in it that said "We are reviewing your account and need additional paperwork" I called and got Hubert from the Executive Res Team who told me to re send all of my paperwork!!(workable solution) I wasn't happy, but did it. That was on 9/1 and still haven't heard anything, I hope you have better luck.

Re: Mod approval... I think???

The message I got meant nothing, so it turns out. I haven't heard a peep from them. I will be making my fourth trial payment on Monday. I haven't been rejected yet, at least. Who knows. I'm at the point now where I just don't think about it anymore. I'm tired of fighting this. It's been 8 months.

Re: Mod approval... I think???

I don't think the statement on the Citi site means much.

I am still being invited to contact them for help.

I've only been on my hands and knees begging since late March! And heading for trial #4.

Re: Mod approval... I think???

These "trial" payments make me nervous. BofA offered me trial payments on my 2nd cutting my payments more than in half, but I feal like they are setting me up for something. I wonder if after some trial payments I end up sued because I have not paid a dime in 11 months and all of a sudden I am making these payments on a regular schedule.

2nd(heloc)=BofA offered three month trial at 1/3 the payment. We'll see.

The messages are (unintentionally) cruel. They either get you really excited or really depressed and they don't seem to have much connection to the real machinations of the process. Do you have an assigned negotiator? Do you know how to get in touch with them? If not, call and say you need to speak with that person and call every day until you hear back. Be nice to them, but get your answers straight from the negotiator if you can and try to to keep looking at the website (easier said that done...I obsessed over it daily...okay numerous times daily)

Good luck!

Re: Mod approval... I think???

Hi teddy

I got the same message on 11/13/09...made my second trial payment on 11/1 and of course the third is due on 12/1.

Prior to this message, I got message on 10/29 that my application is in final review.

Could not get hold of counselor and spoke to someone in Loss Mitigation and she read the notes as verified all documents.

Hope we all get good news before holidays. All the best
