Who do I believe?

Someone please help!! Have been arm wrestling with Citi since November 2008. One day they tell me I qualify for a traditional mod, next day, I don't. Can't get any straight answers from anyone. Currently on a forebearance plan set up through Mortgage Outreach Services with last payment due this month. What should my next steps be? Any insider info that will help me get from the useless call takers to the actual decision makers?

At my wits end. Please help!

Re: Who do I believe?

Update: Called the executive # today and spoke to Christian. Was told that the only mods they are doing at this time are the HAM mods. HUH????They knew full well that I didn't qualify when they put me on the 3 month forebearance plan. Was told that my two options are to keep paying as usual (not possible, savings gone, 401k tapped) or to begin the short sell process. When I asked him what kind of sense it makes for Citi to accept a $170k loss for my house, rather than work out an agreeable solution he just regurgitated the same two options. With business decisions like that, no wonder they needed a bailout!!! Can anyone throw me a lifeline here?

It was to my understanding that Citi offers traditional modifications as well as the HAM programs. Try calling Jim and Jeannes office, someone there may be able to further assist you:

Re: Who do I believe?

Evan,

Thanks for your reply. It WAS my understanding that they were also doing traditional mods, but I keep getting the run around. I will try the two numbers posted and let you know how it turns out.

Re: Who do I believe?

Update: After trying to get someone to look at our loan since November 2008, this week we heard that since our Jumbo loan (Does not qualify for HAM Mod - over $730,000) is owner by Hudson City Savings Bank, there is nothing that Citi as our servicer can do. They finally figured this our after 10 months!!!! Hudson has strict guidelines of not even reviewing a loan for modification unless it is at least 90 days delinquent. So basically they want me to pur myself in credit prison just so they will look at my loan for modification. Witholding their payments is starting to actually look attractive. Someone talk me off the ledge please.
