Home Already in foreclosure with Citi

Alright...the short version....I have a relatively small loan with Citi mortgage. I think the balance owed now is $68K or right around it - 6% fixed FHA loan - $515/month payment. I also have a second mortgage with HFC which has a balance of $12K-ish - $189/month. Anyway, my wife (at the time) lost her job in May of 2008. At that point we started getting behind on the mortgage payment as well as the second mortgage. After we got about 2 months behind I contacted Citi and worked out a repayment plan (around july 08). This was going well until my wife and I split up in Sept of 08. At that point the mortgage got behind again. I contacted citi again in dec 08 and worked out a payment arrangement that I tried to stick to, but was unable to. I never got any loan mods or anything. With everything going on with a seperation and 2 kids, I let it get further and further behind until I got a notice of foreclosure delivered to me. Wow....so I contaced the lawyers that had wrote up the papers, to get an estimate on how long the process takes, what I could and couldnt do, etc.... They gave me some numbers for Citi's - loss mitigation department. I spoke with a lady there who asked me all kinds of questions about my income and expenses, etc...Then she directed me to a workable solutions website, had me fill out something online and then told me to check back in 30 days or so, that the app was submitted. So I waited about 30 days, and I got a letter from a different lawyer saying that some sort of home modification program was denied because it was an FHA loan. I called Citi mortgage loss mitigation back to see what was going on. They had no record of any kind of mods. They did however see another name notated on my account, someone from yet a different law firm trying to contact me. She gave me the number listed and said she wasnt sure who or what that was but for me to call them. So I called this guy, and got nothing but a VM. In fact I have tried numerous times, and all I get is an automated system talking about the largest real-estate firm in the southeast, and they are debt collectors, and then it transfers me to a loss mitigation recording and then voicemail. I have left numerous messages, and cant get anything. I do not know whether to contact Citi mortgage back, or continue to try to contact the "non-answering" lawfirm. I just got a letter a few days ago telling me that a court date was scheduled for July 11th. I assume I am running out of time. I really do not know what direction to turn. I had toyed with the idea of bankruptcy, but after doing my research, that doesnt seem like the best solution. I really want to keep this house if ata ll possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Call Citi and tell them what is going on and ask them to speak to someone with the authority to postpone your sale date while you pursue a modification. I believe that they will postpone the July 11 sale if you are working toward a modificaiton. Good Luck

Re: Home Already in foreclosure with Citi

Have you tried contacting Citi's department for loansafe members? Their phone number is 1-866-255-3901 , email is homeownerhelp@citi.com. Although I haven't actually had a decision yet, I emailed on a Friday evening after business hours and had a representative assigned and assisting me by Monday morning.
