| Citi Mortgage & Citi Financial Homeowner Help Center The great people at Citi Mortgage and Citi Financial (which are now merged) have contacted us at Loan Safe and asked that we make sure that their customers know that they are here to help them. That had to be the worst mistake of my life. My loan is only being serviced by Citi and the loan is actually through Fannie Mae. Back in February the only way that Fannie Mae would look at a loan modification the customer has to be 90 days late. So they told me I would be put on half payments just to show them I was late. They informed me this would not affect my credit score and they wouldn't report it as late. So I made the half payments for 3 months and right before the 3rd month was up I started to get calls from their collection group. I asked them what was going on and they said I owed them the last 3 months. I asked them to check their records and they said I needed to speak to another department. I got transferred to that department and they said they did not have access to my entire account and she put me on hold to call them. She came back to me after 15 minutes and said I had to redo the process. That's when things got really bad. After I started getting calls from the citi collection agency I check my wife and my credit scores. We were both in the low 500's. Before I was in the low 700's. I asked the lady I was talking to about that and she said we should not have been reported but if we dispute the claims they would let it drop off our credit. I disputed and the response came back as Citi won't let it drop. I am in a bad spot now...my credit is already hosed and now they want me to pay my mortgage back to current. If I pay and get current my credit is still hosed. If I don't pay I get kicked out of my house. Does anyone have any advice they can give me to make the best out of this horrible situation? Thanks in advance. |
