    How Long Does It Take??

I don't know if this has been done before, and I hope the PTB don't mind my starting this.

I'd just like to do a poll on how long your modification took in underwriting, especially at Chase.

Mine has been in UW for one month. I was told it would take 15 to 20 days (I know they lie). Now they keep telling me "You should hear something by the end of next week." Obviously a canned response. Why do I even bother to call them?

I hope I get a good sampling on the timeline; I realize that most who have already been successful aren't on this forum anymore.

Please, also, someone tell me what to expect when I go two payments behind. I'm scared silly because I just couldn't handle the stress that this can cause if it gets out of control!

I'm with BOA, not Chase, but I can't imagine any lender quoting that short of a time frame! I was quoted 30 to 45 days AFTER it reaches underwriting. That being said, mine actually took a little less than 3 weeks (or was it a little more, I can't quite remember). This was back in March. I have made my last trial payment and waiting to see what happens.

Don't worry about how many payments you are missing, unless you are planning to seek a repayment plan if the mod doesn't work out. They tack all that stuff on the back of the loan usually as a non-interest bearing balloon.
