Question Frustrated & confused: Chase denied HAMP for THIS?

I am new to posting but not new to the forum. I have been searching the net for two days but can't seem to find anything related to our problem.

Last summer, hubby lost his job & we quit paying our mortgage (well we would have loved to keep paying but ya know). In November, we started the paperwork with Chase for a mod and in February of this year, hubby found new employment. After playing wheel of paperwork for several months, the "Customer Assistance Specialist" informed us last week it was at the UW & everything was in the final approval stage yada yada & we should receive our docs within 3-4 weeks.

We received a denial letter yesterday & this is what it says:

We are unable to offer you help through the federal HAMP or any additional options by the investor or insurer of your loan. This decision was confirmed through a second level of review.

    Please see below for details.

Your loan is currently more than 12 months delinquent or will be at the time a HAMP modification would be finalized.

We sent our first set of docs more than 7 months ago (and have had to resubmit the same stuff every couple months). We were not even close to 12 months behind when we initially filed and it took them 7 months to tell us that? I feel duped!

Any suggestions on who to contact at Chase (or anywhere else)? The emails listed in the sticky at the top of the forum all bounced back as undeliverable & all the numbers we call get us transferred to Loss Mitigation (who wants us to send payment in full to save our home). I tried searching the forum but couldn't find any recent contact info.

We have 3 weeks until the house will sell and we WANT to stay in our home.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions.

The loan mod help center has been instrumental in getting mods through Chase in the Past. You might try them.

I am currently in underwriting?? or so they say!!! Our home has equity - but we were unable to make our payment this month. When I see the savmom comment - I am baffled. Sounds like Chase can foreclose any time they want. I have a CSR at Chase ( actually two that Chase refer's to in all the letters. One letter says Courtney and the other Shebreka. Who should I talk to to negotiate a forebearance or a refi or whatever we can do to stay in our house in the loan mod flops.

    thanks, Debbie.

Thank you, Cat. I searched for that info everywhere! I did find a different email for Jamie but it bounced back. This one went through so we're keeping our fingers crossed & knees dirtied in the hopes someone will be able to help us.

    A couple more questions.

Is this a common reason to deny HAMP mods? I have read where people have been in process for several years. Any idea why would they deny ours for this reason?

Has anyone obtained a mod even though they were initially denied?

Thanks in advance for any info. This is definitely a frustrating & worrisome experience & it helps having a place where we can vent & share our stories!

the banks are always trying to change the rules -- I used the loan mod help center and got an approval after being denied --I also have a chase loan

try them out -- see what they can do -- they can try to stop the sale if you are that close --

my final paperwork was mailed to me a few weeks ago but there was an issue with a third party -- (banks fault) --
they are correcting and should be sending new docs out --

    good luck

Yes I have seen members that were denied battle back and get an approval. And as suggested, you can also contact Michael at the Loan Mod Help Center and he can do a conference call with Chase to get to the bottom of the denial and see what can be done to turn it around.

    He can be reached here;
