Now that I stopped I get phone calls every other day to "update my financial information". I'm told that my file is getting ready to go to the permanent modification unit. Today, I get a call to hound me to make a payment. I have a problem with this tactic. First of all, the agreement I signed was for 3 trail payments. I was sent 4 coupons to give "extra time" to get the permanent mod done. I made those 4 payments. During that time, nobody called me. Nobody cared about my financials. Since I stopped paying I'm getting calls all the time. So I called the exec team again (I hadn't spoke to anyone there since June) and I hear, "oh there may be a problem - since you stopped making payments". I am being assigned another analyst at the exec team and they will call me next week..... Like I told her - I received a written agreement to make 3 trial payments. I made 4. I've seen no progress toward a resolution. My money is in a suspense account and now at the end of the year, I will probably owe taxes. I have a problem paying indefinately with no end in sight!! I know I qualify and have been playing this game for a year. What do I do now?? Do I give them there freakin payments?? |

Collections needs your money. NOW. And it does NOT guarantee that the foreclosure process isn't starting. That's all they do. If it is someone wanting to extend your trial, ask for it in writing. Meanwhile I'd call the Executive Team back and be a squeaky wheel. Just say you "don't understand" and are "really concerned" and be nice but persistent.

I have two different types of people calling me - a representative from the modificaiton dept and that's the same woman every time - Nichole. I also get calls from a dept that says they are just updating information (financials) for my modification. Once they get my info, they politely confirm the date of my last payment and advise me to make a payment today. They are not from collections, but they do read me the "this is an attemp to collect a debt..." crap. I will continue with the exec team and will be more comfortable after getting a real update. I'll make a payment at that time. I feel so cheated! I've been at this since last Nov. I've seen people get permanent mods after 6 or 7 months. I just don't get it! Thanks for all your help guys. |

You will actually have more leverage showing them how you have paid them consistently on time. The longer you pay them on time, the more faith they will have in the ability of you being able to pay after the modification is completed. It worked for me when i had a dispute with them regarding income. |

I gave Nichole my cell number Tuesday because she said she was working on my permanent modification. I wanted her to be able to reach me. Now I've received 3 calls today all asking for financial information and then wanting a payment. They are claiming to try to HELP me! I finally called the HAP department and now I learned that my mod has been declined because I did not keep making payments. Here's my beef - I received a written contract for the 3, possibly 4 months to make the trial payment. Chase never sent me a letter stating that the process would take longer and to keep paying the same amount! So why am I being penalized! This is just an excuse to make me start over. I am so angry I can't even explain it! I originally asked for help last November. I've been jerked around several times and was very close to a permanent mod before the Obama plan came out. Then I did the Obama plan. Now????? I can't believe this. I'm awaiting word from the exec. team now. |

I can afford the trial payments. My problem is why and the heck is this taking so long!? We are not even assigned to specific analysts anymore. I was told that our files are being worked by various people at different stages of the process. So we can't get updates anymore, or find out what is going on! So I just keep sending them money to go in a suspense account, accrue more interest and fees, and hope for the best! THEY CAN AT LEAST SEND OUT AN AUTOMATED LETTER EXPLAINING THAT THEY NEED MORE TIME AND TO CONTINUE TO MAKE PAYMENTS. |

So, I talked to a supervisor and not only was I denied the Obama plan, I can't reapply for it - it's gone. The best they could offer me is to be re-evaluated for some other plan they have. So, O.k., I played the game - gave my financials again, they ran it and they want all the back payments. $8,000 dollars or, I pay an extra $400 for four months, they they'll "analyze the loan to figure out my permanent payment". I was told that they're hands are tied and that it's my fault for not making the payment. "They government says if you miss a payment, you're done". What about the 3 payments, then permanent modification?? What is really bad about this is that is was offerred a permanent mod in April, then the Obama plan came out and I was moved to that plan. Now I have nothing to show for this entire year of playing their game. Who can I complain to?? No one that I've talked to gives a crap! |

They didnt assign a negotiator to me, but i didnt have any problems getting regular updates from whomever answered the phone. I was always told to continue making the payment even after the 3 months. Before I made my 7th payment I called to make sure and was told not to make that payment because I was being modified. This is about the average time it takes to get the modification, something between 6 - 8 months average. |

I have the freakin payments. Had I known they were going to play this game, I would have just set up the auto payments. Again I have no trouble paying. I could pay Oct and Nov, they just won't take it. It's like I'm being punished and now given an option that isn't one. |

The guidelines clearly state 3 payments when in imminent default or 4 payments when current. While I encourage everybody to continue making payments (because it actually doesn't make sense to stop since these payments wil be due after the mod anyway, no matter when they make the final mod and not even to give them the smallest opportunity to come up with BS-excuses to get away), this is not a reason to disqualify you from HAMP. They can't disqualify you from HAMP for not making trial payments since THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL TRIAL PAYMENTS after the 3rd or 4th payment. You already fullfilled the requirements from the trial plan. These payments would be considered your first payments on your modified loan - but not as a trial. According to the guidelines, there are no "trial-extensions", either. Tell them to at least send you a new trial-agreement or you will make this case public (btw, you can also ask them where they told you in writing what is due after your 3rd trial payment). I just called the HOPE helpline and they couldn't answer my question regarding Chase's actions being within the program guidelines. I read the guidelines myself. Their actions don't make sense. I can see if they ask me to make up the payment (which I am willing to do), but not this BS fake alternate modification trial offer. I had the HOPE lady on the line and we were disconnected twice from Chase and finally she hung up on me. Even with the couselor's help, I couldn't get anywhere with Chase. My only hope is with the exec team. They are supposed to call me tomorrow, if not I'll call back and demand to speak with someone. I'm not a flake. I didn't maliciously fail to make the payment nor was I unable to afford the payment. I just got a call Tuesday to update financials and I was told then that it was to send my file to underwriting for approval. Talk about mixed messagees. |

Although our case went smooth so far, we already had an appointment with one - just in case. It's always more effective to go to one of their offices and meet somebody in person - your personal counselor. That gives you somebody you can ask questions and gives your case a "face". I don't regret spending one afternoon and driving downtown to his office - I always say: "You use the phone to order a pizza - but you certainly don't want the future of your home depend on a call." |

She would not give me a reason. She said that maybe I qualified 5 months ago, but I don't now. She has no idea why blamed it on the "system" Nothing has changed. My income is exactly the same, same debts.... So my file is in underwriting and they are trying to set me up on something else?? I'm not sure if I believe that or not. I told her about what everyone told me on the phone yesterday and offerred to make the payments. She advised me to send in the payments and said that all those offers were collections and that's what they do. I'm not sure what to do now. I'm sending in the payments today in good faith, but I really wanted the protection of the MHAP. Who knows what they'll (Chase) will give me! |

Similar thing happened to us--were initially told we were approved for MHA (and made some MAJOR decisions based on that verbal "pre-approval", including giving up our rental we'd been in for a year and moving back into the house so that we would truly qualify as living there!) then the 2nd week after we moved in we called and got the "you no longer qualify" speech and the only reason was changes in Chase's "calculators".................. |

I'm sending in my home budget spreadsheet and my paystubs again (directly to the negotiiator). I have a $200 surplus with the trial payment. Again, I'm hoping that the exec team will be able to force a second look at the MHAP. I would rather keep that 31% payment and not pay all those late fees if possible. |
