Can anybody recommend a pro-bono attorney to go after Chase? Good money...

========================
We are looking for anybody's help, so I'm fishing here too.

My neighbor just lost his condo last week to Chase and ended up on the street on Friday without any notice! We offered him to move into one of our rental properties for a month if needed while he's trying to find another place, we would like to help him, but I don't know what else we can do but to help him find some information that can help him find justice.

The guy lost his job over a year ago and has been trying to do a short sale since September of last year, since without work he wouldn't qualify for loan mod. WAMU was his first lender, and it was a nightmare trying to get them to communicate. Then they became JPMorgan Chase, and things got even worse. He submitted his whole hardship package to them at least five times, they kept losing it. His broker has been working as his negotiator, the broker showed me the emails from Chase, they changed negotiators at least 5 times, each new negotiator starts the package from scratch, no communication even inside Chase and no results.

All of a sudden, last week on Wednesday, Chase negotiator asked for a copy of the purchase contract to finalize the approval, supposedly. For two days the guy doesn't return any emails or calls again, then resurfaces on Friday and says: "I'm not giving you an approval, because we just sold your property on Thursday"!!

Then why was he asking for a purchase contract on Wednesday if the property was already moved to Thursday auction? There are several emails from various people at Chase stating that the file is in review with the investor and the approval is coming shortly, there was NEVER any mention of an upcoming sale.

There was no publicly posted notice of the upcoming sale, PriorityPosting.com shows no sale of the property. There was no mailed notification of the trustee sale to the owner.

Now the kid is on the street, nobody from Chase came to his door yet, but he doesn't want to wait, he wants to take some action. He's been negotiating in good faith with Chase for over a year, and this unexpected behind-the-back sale caused him huge hardship.

So, a question for the RE gurus here: can anybody recommend a sharp real estate lawyer who might be interested in taking on pro-bono work against Chase? Any other recommendations that can help this kid are appreciated.

Susan

Susan,
If he was never served any Notice of Sale, this was illegal if it really happened. You might want to try Chase Executive Resolution dept (Check other threads for telephone number) as well as go down to county/city courthouse to see what has been filed with regards to the property.
Finding a pro bono attorney is well not impossible but good luck. Depending on where you are there may be some local non-profits that are doing foreclosure assistance and have attorneys working for reduced rates or have workshops. Try legal aid for referral too. If I were him, I wouldnt budge from that property until a sheriff came to get me out. Why a rep would be asking for a purchase contract from a borrower is very suspicious. I have never heard of them asking for that. Something sounds amiss here. And it doesnt sound legal.
Its not uncommon for Chase to keep switching reps and people falling thru the cracks.

My comment would be (in the interest of helping you) is that I cannot find an attorney WITH pay... Many of them in my area either don't know enough about his evolving new litigation, OR they are TOO BUSY. I have spoken to the best, and they can choose their cases... they don't NEED to go probono. ALSO, you can't do pro-bono on all cases, it's illegal, there are limits to what they can charge. Good luck!

Susan, if they have sold the condo already, it's pretty tough to get it back.

However, have you called HUD? Or the State Attorney General? I don't know - there might be something they can do. It could be quite possible, as snapple said, that the left side of Chase didn't know what the right was doing and they really blew it.

First though you have to be sure you have the records straight re: what happened. I'm in CA and I know that it would be illegal for them to do that right now because of where I am in the process. But your state may have some other weird laws.

And no, I don't know an attny who will do this pro bono or any other way.

Hey, nothing surprises me with chase. I would call j. Daimon office and the executive res. Group in ohio. Ask for a supervisor. If they cannot help you , call back and ask for another supervisor until they help. This sounds like such an illegal act. You were not even notified. I have had so many people handling my case over the last 2 years i lost count. Please fight. Call your senator and congressman. We are here for you. We will prevail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What state? Media Media Media...go to the local stations (don't call) and leave a copy (packet) of everything for the most locally known respected jounalist. Here in our state, they feed off of this and are awarded nationally. They have a team of people that will work each file and get down to business. When you sign, off they go calling, e-mailing, etc. They go to the Attorney General, Governor, etc. too.

You will have a tough time finding an attorney who knows what he's doing to take this on WITH pay...I searched forever to find an attorney...lots of research online and phone calls. My feeling is that the government sponsored agencies are not much help...most of us on this forum know more than they do!
