I am working hard on a client's Loan Mod with Wamu (Chase). He is about 3 months behind. Recently we were contacted by someone ("Tara") who claimed if we provided some very basic documents and made a full monthly payment that we would be put on a "Trial Payment" period with payments discounted around 25% off. I asked if she had our proposal and accompanying paperwork (that we had sent via Fedex in September) but she did not. I've completed a good amount of loan mods with other companies and was suspicious immediately. Only after some pointed questions did she admit she was in the collections department, not the loan modification department. She claimed collections is now helping the Loan Mod division with modifications. When I asked if we would get a letter confirming what she was offering she said no. Has anyone else been offered a trial from someone in collections? I'm very wary of dealing with her as I feel she's ONLY concerned about getting some payments in and has neither the desire nor the authority to engage in loan modification negotiations. Thoughts? |

I was told last week that collections is now authorized to qualify people for remods due to a massive back log with loss mitigation. That is how I qualified 2 months ago. Of course I have not recieved my "package" FedEx as promised. But to answer your question they are doing it. Depends who you talk to over ar Chase. |
