Who has checking /saving w/chase? - Loan Modification Forum

Just wondering how many have personal accts with Chase. Just a thought but what if everyone closes their accts and go to another bank. And also get everyone you know that has accts with Chase to close them too. They might be the ones worring.

Our mortgage is our only account with Chase.

I had one with WASHINGTON MUTUAL for 17 years and two days into being Chase they totally messed up my account. I have since found a new bank.

I have 2 checking accounts with Chase but now that I've been denied, they will be closed. My dad also took a copy of my denial letter and he is closing his account. They won't lose much with me but they will with my dad.

You guys might appreciate this one. My mortgage with WAMU now Chase and they sent me a $100 promo check to open up an account at Chase. Chase is allowing me to make my trial payments right now electronically so I thought what the heck, I could use a $100 so I opened it, spent the money and kept the balance at $10 till I paid the trial payment last week, again leaving only $10 in the account. They charged be a $6 service fee this month though for not having made at least 6 transactions. I think this month Ill go and charge 6 $1 purchases to I can avoid the service charge.

There is no way I would use this account to manage all my finances so they can tap into it when they want and view my purchasing habits. As well as take out money when it comes time for foreclosure.

I'm in agreement with everyone. I know that banks get a great percentage of their income from overdraft fees, and whenever I can I talk to people about that. I'm pretty mad at Chase in particular, don't get me wrong, but it's all the big banks. Local is best.

I got the $100 check from them too to open an account but too mant strings attached so threw it away. In my life it seems whenever I take advantage of something "free", it usually ends up costing me but that's just me!

Amen to that. We have mortgages and CC through them but not checking accounts. Those are with WF and BofA for now. As soon as we get straightened out here I'm closing my WF account and heading down to the local credit union in protest of all of the BS they've been pulling with their mortgage clients (good friend of ours included). The next time we need ANYTHING we will go through the credit union.

I have a checking and savings and 2 credit cards with them (one was wamu that they took over) I just made it easy for me to have one log on and I can see all my accounts on one screen including my mortgage. I have had no issues with the bank portion of Chase...

Nope, we used to have everything with them...checking, savings, student loans, money market, mortgage, CC...all of that has been moved. I personally have found that Bank of America is the lesser of evils when it comes to the big banks, so I am there now. Also, as soon as I can possibly make it happen, my mortgage will be disappearing from Chase as it is my last tie to Chase and one that I can't wait to sever.

How about closing all of your accounts with the big banksters and using a local bank or credit union? There is a better choice than the lesser of evils.

I use BOA primarily because they are convenient. I frequently travel between TX where I live and FL and I don't have to pay ATM fees because BOA is everywhere. Also, it's convenient when my family in FL wants to give my kids money for birthdays and things like that..they can just deposit it in my account. If it weren't for that, I would have a local bank/credit union.

vlove - I know what you mean about convenience - that's originally why I switched from my local credit union to WaMu. but here's what some are doing - taking MOST of their money out of Chase or BoA or any other big one but keeping some in just one account - just a checking acct, for instance. Then there is still that convenience, but most of the money is not with the big guys. Just a thought.

Personally, I think all banks suck. I have the majority of my accounts with Chase (mortgage/Credit cards, checking/savings) I'm so happy that they worked with me on modding my loan, that I'm going to stay with them.... That is, until they do something that I don't like.

I also bank with a credit union. (PenFed) so I have a variety of banks/Credit union accounts.
