5 months behind no word from Chase

No phone calls, no nothing. I check the county recorder website and nothing new there. Strangest thing I have ever seen. If I can actually get a sale date, which is 3 months from when it is filed in my state (Arizona) then possibly make another stab at a modification. Mabye lead them on to postpone the auction and stash more money.

In the meantime, living here for free. Its a bum's dream!

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

Chase is the king at doing this and delaying for the sole purpose of propping up their books. I know several homeowners that have gone a year and one who is 23 months now.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

THAT'S WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW.5 mo. behind. Will be 6 mo. behind after 10/1.It was a slow slide to this point. (car repairs, high gas prices, medical bills, never enough $$ to get caught up)After 10/1, I might be able to make partial mortgage payments, but not the full amount. I am debating on what to do.But, we have the same silence you have.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

that's so weird. Did you get calls when you were first late? I'm a month late and they've been calling regularly.

Now that I think about it, you have to expect the unexpected in this process. "Rhyme and reason" are out the door.

We'll be 7 months behind this week. Haven't EVER received a collection call. Not even one. Haven't received any late statements in the mail or anything.

Ohio

Yes, we received collection calls in the early months we were late.

It's been quiet ever since I really pressed hard in June and July for the loan modification with all the faxed info.

I think they just got too busy mid-summer.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

dtap, that's how we feel here too. Just waiting for that shoe to drop.

I almost feel like they are setting us up to fail. Those first few months they assured us would be put on the end of our loan. They keep telling us that even for these last 3-4 months. But in the mean time, we found this website so we've been saving the payments. We didn't save those first 3 payments though. And, if we listened to them, we wouldn't be saving these most recent payments.
I feel like they are trying to get us so far behind that we will be unable to catch up, and then they will boot us right out. Should be just in time for Christmas, now.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

Chase has to figure that the longer people get behind that they will have no choice but to put the back payments at the end of the loan. Im going to try to get by another month or so then i will have to call them and try to work something out. Maybe Chase thinks they are helping homeowners by letting them go for a while from making there payments? I just don't know, but something is going to happen sooner or later.

Absolutely something will happen. I am just not sure what. I caught on to the game early on and stopped making forebearance payments. Started banking money in my wife's seperate account in a different bank. Thats my insurance policy to have a roof over our heads. I'm approaching 6 months behind so now we're taking some serious cash. Hell if property values keep going down I'll have enough saved to just buy a house cash outright. If everybody followed our course of action of not contacting them and not letting them suck a few drops out of us via trial payments then something would really start to happen.

Those of you out there who have a family, do them a favor and save your money instead of throwing it at Chase in desperation. You'll need it someday.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

UPDATE:

I got a call today from a lady in the "Home Retention Department" and she asked me to do another application and explain why in a letter that I didn't make my 3rd trial payment because it was too much money for me to afford. I told her that I would print out the form and fill it out and fax it all in again. I also got a new fax number to use this time so maybe it will get into the right hands?

briknope, Very interesting! Did she say anything about foreclosure at all? or was her goal to get you to try again at a loan mod? Did she give you any new info regarding FHA loan mods? Thanks

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

I am 4 months behind now but when I called loss mitigation to see if I could get something figured out I was told that since they had put me on the three month trial plan, noone could help me. I explained that the 3 month trial plan did not help me, I had already called when I found out what the amount was ($700 more than my original paymemt) and told them I would not accept it.

I spoke to an attorney who told me he is working with homeowners who are 23 -25 months behind. Part of that makes me think he doesn't care becasue he can keep billing them so that did not really give me any hope.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

For those of you that have not heard anything from Chase in the last few months, did you get the letter basically threatening to refer your case to an attorney? We got those and a call here or there - I think one was from them anyway. We were so far behind on everything it was rediculous. I wonder if your location and the time of year play a part in whether or not they pursue foreclosure. I know those things have a big effect on the demand for homes....it kinda makes sense that they would want to keep you there so that the house is not sitting empty and deteriorating. They would not see any money out of it anyway. Hmmmm......

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

No threatening letters yet. I was also on a forebearance agreement and they told me like stated above that I was on a "plan" or agreement so they couldn't do anything untill I was off that "plan" I agreed to it a while back and signed it because it was better than what I had (lower payment by a whopping 109 dollars) and then said forget it after making 2 payments.

Old rule of thumb folks, when someone doesn't get their money they will start to notice. An educated guess with all you FHA people is they want you to be behind as far as possible, so they get something out of the FHA thats worthwhile. FHA pays Chase, then FHA puts lien on home. Its called a partial claim. Why not just let it go for a year and get it all back from the government anyway? Maybe PMI will make up some of the difference in certain cases. Who knows. I'm sure these bankers know exactly what they are doing. Like most on here, credit has taken a hit anyhow, what else do we have to lose? I just want to avoid the hassle of moving and pay close for this house as what I would on a rental and call it a wash.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

It IS strange. the first month I was late there were alot of calls. Now maybe one a week. I tell them I still have a case going with loss mit (which I do but don't hold up much hope for). My loan is a can of worms. Applied with my son, but they inflated my income and gave it just to me (I do NOT remember any conversation about this and have no docs signed by me - actually the initial lines for me on my copy are all blank - just highlighted). My son and I each paid half the mortgage for the first years. then last year I applied for a mod cuz the ARM was adjusting. At the last minute they noticed I don't have the income to pay the whole thing - duh! - and they insisted we put my son on the first mortgage, which we did and they gave me a one year mod just freezing the ARM. Then this year my son had to stop paying at all. So I sent in the application, including my son's docs as required since he was now on the first. but then they deny me because he wasn't on the original app - duh - and then they say it's not a permanent hardship... because the income on the original loan didn't include his. So when I say my hardship is loss of his income, now they say that since he wasn't on the original loan this is not a hardship. You can imagine my response, but they're just weird about this and quite frankly I do not know if they are smart enough to wrap their heads around this reality that they created. I don't fit into any slot. So I"m in default. I'm trying with NACA - but also sent in a QWR. LOoks like I'll have the house for Christmas, which is very important for me - then I don't know. Trying to do research re: what happens AFTER they reply to the QWR - I want to be ready. sorry - went a little off track here.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

Okay. So that one call I was talking about happened last night about 8 p.m. THEY CALLED AGAIN JUST NOW. Same Dept. Collections. They are offering me a repayment plan - you all know what that is. I told them, again, that I couldn't afford the mortgage and was aplying for a loan mod and wasn't that in their notes from last night? I said are you going to call me every 12 hours. He said he might, as their job is to get this money from me. Now I'm wondering - IF they do call me every 12 hrs. (and this is an IF) - what constitues harrassment? I know they can't call before I think 8 am and after 9 p.m., but are there other rules? Maybe I'll just make the rules here and NOT pick up if I've already talked with them that week? Maybe I'm just being paranoid here.... any advice?

They call me about 15 to 20 times a day on both my cell phone and home phone. Whenever I see a 800 number on the caller ID I don't pick it up. Why bother spending time talking to these people? You won't get anywhere with them and they are only collection reps. It's not like they have any power.

If I did that then they'd call my house phone. My cell phone is the first on their list for some reason on my account so I think they think that is my main number. Fine, let them think that. I never get calls on my cell anyway since my kids text me if they need me for anything so I just put the ringer on silent. I just checked my cell and they've already called me 9 times today. They've called my house number only twice today. It's a good thing I'm self-employed because I bet if I wasn't, and they got ahold of my employer's phone number, they'd be calling there 20 times a day too. Let them call my cell 20 times a day. It's no skin off my back.

What i do is put a block on my cell phone calls that come from an 800 number. The CC try calling from several 800 numbers but i have block most of them. Im sure it pisses them off big time! I laugh everytime one of there calls gets block.

Re: 5 months behind no word from Chase

AACPA - I get it. I am employed outside the home and if my cell rings at the office it's usually something critical. That's why I chose to eliminate those calls. I can see why you don't.

dtap57 - that's a good rationale too. So far they've not called my work or my cell after I told them not to..... and I have only gotten one call today at home. I hate those calls tho, you know? I was always current with all of my debts before this. I never wanted to be like my lame ex-husband who burned us bad with credit card and other debt when we were together. Took me years to get a good credit score, and now this. Gotta get out of that judgement though right now - this is different. I'm current on everything else. Have a great Saturday.

caldwell02, i know what you are saying! I don't think any of us a couple of years ago expected to be in this position today. I am using whatever is available for me to use. I have even have bankruptcy line up if i need it. I am going to play this out as long as i can and hope i get something that is fair. I think we all would like just a fair deal so we can make it. Good Luck to all of us!
