I don't know how you guys put up with collection calls on a daily basis. I'm currently 6 months behind, and if someone was calling me every day I would go insane. They could save themselves a lot of money if they revamped their company and got everyone on the same page. They spend so much money paying people to make unnecessary calls (like that one) and people to sit in their call centers answering the phones and saying "no change, sir" that it's ridiculous.

BTW, make sure to tell them you are recording the call. I think you have to let them know that, just like they have to let you know. That way you are covering all of your bases. And, maybe record the calls that YOU make to THEM. I'm wondering if they know you're recording them if they would be more helpful because they know that whatever they say or do can and will be used against them.

I am making the best of it! If they want to call me everyday then I will record every conversation and post it on You tube! Hopefully this will give people some knowing that they are not alone!!

rachel, I had as many as 25 per day until I cancelled my home phone.

They would start at 8:00am and go til 7:00pm and I would say every 30 minutes they would call.

Plus when you have two loans, 80/20 now you have the same bank collectors for each loan calling you. I think one day we counted a record number of calls on a Saturday, 29 of them...

You know, what, that is EXACTLY what will happen and I am sure you will give others courage and tips to talk with these creeps when they call. You can actually have fun and make game out of it just so you don't go crazy. This is almost like a tutorial on what to say.

When I was down and out in 2002 with my foreclosure and divorce, I would do the same thing but I didn't record it. I would have a 6 pack of beer and play jerky boys with them or act like someone died(I got murdered) and I act like the Dad and yell at them for trying to collect money from my dead son.

I don't recommend the beer because it will lead to a drinking habit, but making light of a dark situation is the only way to be happy in a difficult time.

Just for fun the last time I spoke with one of the collectors months ago and they said this call is being recorded, I said, "hell no, you are not recording anything I say". All was quite for a few seconds, then the operator said, "but sir we have to record the call", I said nope and hung up. Funny this was arond 2:00pm on a Saturday and I did not get any more calls that day...

I say when the bank calls and tell you that this call "may be recorded" your response should be "Ok great, I will be recording this conversation as well!"
