From what everyone on here is saying that after the trial they keep asking you to pay? Has anyone actually had a trial period and actually got approved for a REMOD.? The lady on the phone informed me that there I was pretty much guarenteed "99%" that I would get a loan remod. I have agreed only to look at the documents which they will be sending in 2 weeks. She actually told me to STOP PAYING MY MORTGAGE! They are being very NICE to me which really makes me worry! Any ADVICE??? Thanks |

We were told to stop paying our mortgage payment as well (by a dozen different people at chase). They then sent us a foreclosure warning. We were devastated. We are in a mess now. I would think very very seriously before stopping that monthly payment if I were you. I wish I had found this forum last year when we started this mess. We were also told that there shouldn't be any problem with us getting a modification. This was last fall 2008. Within a week we were denied and put on a forbearance plan and all but promised that after the forbearance plan we would be approved. That ended in June. Now it's well into September and they are still telling us not to pay and still telling us we should be approved. Basically, just be very careful. Make sure you REALLY want and REALLY need the modification before you fall into their traps. |

I was told they where different. I called them today and they were just like gimme gimme!! I told them I wanted a finacial interview. This guy did not want to budge! Finally I said I have no money to pay for my first and that I wanted to stay in my home. He then started to interview via phone. He tried to get me on the "forebearance plan" Luckily I did not qualify. He then asked if I had heard about the OBAMA plan! Which blew my mind because from what I have heard on this forum is that these guys are playing STUPID when it comes to OBAMA's PLAN. So he transfered me to a lady that handles the 3 month trial period. She actually appoved me over the phone, but I told her that i need everything in writing!!!!! She told me to stop paying my first!! So I believe there are "forebearances plans" and "3 month trail" plans. You do not want the forebearance plan,, You need the trial plan! |

I'm surprised they were able to do it all over the phone. We had to fax in a lot of paperwork (multiple times). Sounds like you are working with someone that may actually be productive. |

My first was $1700 and she quoted me $960 for the new payment! Then I called my second mortgage throught Chase. After 10 minutes of them trying to get a payment out of me, they finally said Just fax us the paper work for you first mrtgage "3 month trial" and that they would work with me. Seems like the hardest part is telling these PEOPLE that you cant pay and then they will work with you. Time will tell |

I have an FHA loan , did a phone interview today and was "approved" for a modification with a slightly lower rate and brough current.(not the mha or hamp) just a plain modification which is what I was looking for and a slightly lower payment and to get current. Said they had to request reinstatement figures from the foreclosure attorney. Anyone been down this road? I'll believe approved when I see the paperwork but it sounded like I was fine. Any advice please post. |

If you can't make your payment it HAS to be forebearance.....THEN it goes to modification...if you get approved. Even if it gets approved...don't expect anything. I completed my 3 month modification MAY - JUN - JUL. In August (around the 20th) they said I was approved and gave me the rates for my modification....they even gave me a FED EX tracking number! It never arrived. The tracking number was bunk. I was due to make my 1st payment for my modified loan Sept. 1st. Guess I'm late already!!!! If you can't risk your home....don't default. If you are at the point where you simply don't give a #@$%, then "THE MAN" has nothing on you and you only stand to gain even by renting. Don't fear...we only get one day at a time. Give thanks for what you have, try not to support your local USURY branch. |

After missing 3 payments they finally approved us for the MHA/Obama plan. We signed official MHA paperwork and made our 3 payments. We are still waiting for our final mod but so far the preliminary numbers they gave us are completetly different than what tehy told us they would be and are much higher than what we paid during the trial period. Once you start missing payments they trash your credit scores as well. So now we have lousey credit and have no idea if and when we will ever get a real loan mod. If Chase and the other banks would just follow the MHA guidelines we would all be better off. Instaed they are spending all kinds of money to hire new people to process loan mods, but they don't train them properly, don't follow the MHA guidelines and end up creating more problems for all of us. |

You have to have that attitude or they will always threaten you with your credit. If they dont want to work with me, I will just try to short sell it and rent a place by the beach. Either way I win!! I am not trying to pull a "fast one" on anybody and I never got in over my head. I just got hit with some huge budget cuts and now cant afford my mortgage. Seems like the banks would rather you short sell or forclose. Either way the banks get there money and our government eats the rest of the balance. |

I was in foreclosure with an auction date of 10/7.They too offered and I accepted for now the "Trial Period" which is a 3 month forebearance to prove you can pay on time and the be considered for a permanent modification. From what I"m reading here they are doing this and then no ones getting the perm mod's later on ? It may be this is buying chase time to handle the volume? I guess it buys me/us time? Any advice here. Frank |

I stated I had a financial hardship. Thats why i believe there is a big difference between "Forebearance" and "3 month trial" The lady on the phone told me after the 3 month trail, I had a 99 % chance of getting the MOD. I told her to sent me the paperwork and I would look at it. She told me to stop paying. Here is the big picture, sounds like your credit( like most of ours) is screwed. I wouldnt give them anymore money what else can they do?? The damage has been done. I will try the 3 month trial, I am gonna have a lawyer check the paper I am suppose to receive. That way when month FOUR comes along and I still have no MOD, then maybe I can sue for breech of contract! |

With regard to documentation they dont ask for any, they go by what you tell them on the phone. They said my rate later would be 5.1% and all the arrears and attorney fees would be put back into the loan at the lower rate which is fine with me as long as they actually do it. Anyone done it yet or finished and got mod or didnt???? I think the 3 month trial and this are the same ,not part of hamp/mha but something similiar without having to go through the full hamp thing. |

BudgetCutsinOC If they offer you a trial period program modification on the actual Making Home Affordable paperwork it will state that you may be eligible for a permanent modification. The paperwork we signed clearly states this. The banks are trying to cover themselves every way they can. The reality is that many of us have made our 3, 4 or 5 trial period payments and now we are all in limbo waiting to get a permanent modification. The servicer guidelines are pretty clear about the steps to be taken, but the reality is that a trial period mod gives you some breathing room but there is still no guarantee that the lender will in fact convert it to a permanent modification. I think when the gov wrote up the guidelines for the MHA program they left out some very important details, namely there is no language in the documents that say if we as borrowers live up to our end of the agreement then the lenders will live up to their end. It is just assumed that if we make our payments the lenders will then convert us to a permanent modification. I think the gov just assumed that the lenders would take the high road and do the right thing. Hopefully this will happen for most us us but until we start to see people actually get their trail period programs converted into permanent loan modifications the jury is still out. |

I never once told them that I can't make the regular payment. In fact, every time we contact chase we tell them we CAN afford our payment. They dumped us into a forbearance plan anyway and we have no idea why. So we paid 6 months on that plan. Of course every employee has a different rhyme and reason as to why we are where we are at. |

They asked when I would be able to make a normal payment and told them NEVER. Because my pay decrease is permenant why should I delay the inevitable and waste money!! Thats probably why they said I didnt qualify for the forebearance.. Dont be afraid to tell thes scamsters that you can not pay. Just be prepared to back it up! The key is not to give them anything until they are ready. I never call them, I always have them call me. Now they wanna give me a 3 month trial, I was hoping it woud take longer so I could save some money and pay some credit cards off! But i havent signed or agreed to anything |

I have an FHA loan with Chase. They quoted me over the phone a new payment of 120.00 less than my old payment. They said after 3 months they would put what i owed to the end of the loan. I haven't taken them up on there offer and decided to wait and see if the FHA/Obama plan might help me more. How far behind are you? I haven't seen anybody so far with an FHA loan get any kind of deal on there payment. Frustrating! |

You might...just might, get lucky and get a good loan mod. You can always just stop paying on the 4th payment like me and see what they do. It may even cause more confusion and you could end up getting even more free months to mattress money. You can always find a good realturd and you can stroke the bank while "trying" to do a short sale. You get to live in the house for free while they show it....never move out. Living in there free is the only "investment" you have left in that property...don't disregard that. |

He said he was offered the 3 month trial period, he paid all 3 months, then he stopped paying on the 4th and 5th month. He never called them. Then one day out of the blue , they offered him a sweet MOD that actuallt less than the 3 month trial payment! The KEY is NOT TO CALL THEM!!!! These TURDS like to stringing you along just to get a free payment!!! I will take the 3 month trial, and then I will stop paying on the 4th month. I am NEVER going to call these guys. I have a great realtor that will "TRY" to short sale and stroke the bank, but I will not activate him until Chase blows this 3 month deal. |

Chase called me a week before the final trial payment is due and said that I need to called them after I send in the payment. Of course I never did called. They called last week and told me that they received my finial payment and tell me to wait till end of Sept for the finial mod. She also said that if I did not get the final mod paper by the end of Sept then give them a call and i may need to make the 4th payment. Of course i'm going to call them. |
