Angry I absolutely HAVE to vent.. this is SO unfair!!!

Why, oh why is it that the federal government is handing out BILLIONS of dollars directly to the banks and Big Three automakers, etc., etc. to save them from going under when WE, the people on Main Street, are being tossed nothing but crumbs through the newly signed ec stimulus plan??? In the grand scheme of things, who's really more important? We're the ones who are really and truly suffering in this mess.. losing jobs, savings and yes, our homes.

President Obama signed this stimulus bill for almost $800B... the federal government could easily give each middle and lower class adult in this country, say, $1-2M to help pay off mortgages, put it away for retirement, put towards college or home improvements, etc., etc. and literally eliminate poverty.... now that would REALLY give the economy a HUGE jolt. Some people might choose to retire early and so on and so forth, but that would free up a lot of jobs for those who still want to work and keep investing money. The main thing is, though, it would help every one of us who's struggling to stay afloat. The rich people shouldn't be included--they don't need that money anyway.

It just isn't fair that these corporations and banks are getting huge infusions of cash directly but that we get virtually nothing!! I am SO angry about this, I could storm Congress and scream at each and every one of our elected officials. I know I voted for President Obama, but even he admitted his newly announced housing initiative won't help everyone. This idea of mine (fantasy is more like it since it won't happen) would be much fairer to everyone, IMHO....

Your two cents (which is really worth a lot less in this economy nowadays, LOL), please? What do you think?
Sally

Plutocracy:

Plu*toc"ra*cy A form of government in which the supreme power is lodged in the hands of the wealthy classes; government by the rich; also, a controlling or influential class of rich men.

Sally, I appreciate the rant. I feel powerless too. I just voted in a new prez who was gonna bring "change." Not. Economically anyway. The only thing I can do is to get out of this awful mess I had no clue I would end up in by eventually just walking away from the property and vow to never give another red cent to a creditor, bank, etc. (live a cash lifestyle as much as possible). I'm channeling my anger into getting these crooks out of my life for good and not allowing them in my life ever again. The best thing people can do is to put their $$$ (after getting back on their feet) where their anger is: boycott companies, put all these creeps out of biz, get educated and stay informed so these plutocrats can't rip you off ever again. I wish Americans would collectively rise up (non-violently) and truly give the powers that be a real scolding and reality check, but everyone is beat down, too poor and tired to fight. Yup, it sucks to be a distressed or unemployed homeowner in America right now. But, when I think I could be an Afghan girl who has to worry about acid being thrown in my face on my way to school, or I might have been left on a hill to die at birth in China because I was born female, or I could be "honor" killed in another country if I dissed my husband, I am sssooo happy to have been born an American . Immigrants were proud to come here and make this country a great place to be. Unfortunately, the Plutocrats were allowed to ruin the country. We're all dealing with the consequences of that now.

Well, you know what happens next? Taxes are going up, and not on the "rich" that obama described on the stump. That median has now come down to $75k per household. What happened to the $250k or the $200k or the $150k, Obama? They are also going to hit businesses. OH GOOD, as if these people aren't taxed enough? I know what it is to own and business and choke everytime those payroll taxes were due.

Peaceful revolt? I am heading to the shed to look for a pitch fork. Maybe I'll use it to help me bury my money first....... and then head to Washington.

Chefette,

I got a pitchfork of my own somewhere in the garage. I'll be glad to join you on the way to Washington; count me in!
