Did anyone watch the debate last night?

During the debate John McCain indicated that he would, if elected, tell the US Teasurer to buy up all the bad loan and remodify them so people could stay in their houses.

I'm sure it's just to shore up some votes, but he did hit Obama hard about the approval of Congress to lower credit restrictions for Fannie and Freddie MAC.

Obama is some sort of teflon king though, nothing sticks to him. I don't know if he is the quite the ray of hope everyone wants him to be. He is a great speaker though, and since the president is little more than a figure head - perhaps his inspiring speeches will make people happy and forget their troubles and then they will shop, and the banks will lend, and everyone will be happy again.

I'm sorry, got a bit off topic there...just that Obama is from Chicago, part of the Chicago political machine and if you live here you know that no good comes from that...no matter how good it sounds. (and he does sound good).

Anyway, wondering if anyone caught the debate and what your thoughts are/where about John McCain's comments.

Obama is a Smooth talker, he will say good things for you and I to vote for him, But his HEART is not with it. His words are just words but His Heart doesn't mean it. Be careful of a Smooth Talker, he looks like all the CEO's of Countrywide, Mozilo, the CEO of AIG< the CEO of Lehman, all words but no ACTION. I've seen his record and boy it's down the toilet.

MCcain may be old and not a good debater But his Heart is with you and everything he says He will do. He is a Man of Action and I hope He wins so all the struggling homeowners and the Members of LoanSafe.org which is about 6500+ now can afford the payments and remain in their homes.

Good luck to all of us struggling homeowners, I hope McCain will win so this housing mess can be solved.

Thanks and God bless.

Did you guys stop to think that if McCain was really interested in helping homeowners, he would have fought tooth and nail to ensure that the TARP included guarantees to address foreclosures, etc??! No, he just signed on without kicking up a fuss and now that he is behind in the polls he's trying to come up with something that will resonate with borrowers. Let's pick sense from non-sense!

Well, well, Mccain and some of the honest Republicans fought for what is good and right, but the crook Democratss like Pelosi and a Senator named Obama and all the Democrats blocked it. Everytime McCain makes suggestions the crook Democrats always blocked it, because they have more Demoncrats in the house than the Republicans. If Rep Frank and Pelosi and Democrats worked together with the Republicans and forget who gets the credit, then we will not be in this mess. Obama is still a loser.

Obviously you are blinded by the red in your eye. This is not about Democrat or Republican. We as Americans need to sit and critically analyze all that is being said and done by these politicians. If ANYONE be it Democrat or Republican was interested in what's happening on Main Street, WHY did this so called bailout not have provisions to REALLY HELP HOMEOWNERS. McCain cannot come AFTER THE FACT and talk about that he wants to do. We have a BILL that is now LAW. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE BILL!

Once again PICK SENSE FROM NONSENSE!

You are the one blinded by the non sense Obama and the Democrats are doing. If you are watching Fox 37 right now Mr Speaker was talking about Senator Obama accepting a bribe from Fannie and Freddie and McCain should have asked him in the debate if Obama is prepared to return all the money these crooks gave Obama and if Obama is prepared to put to jail these CEO's from Fannie and Freddie and he also said that Obama should have questioned one of the Democrats who has a big favor from Countrywide. Fox also stated that when Obama was just a brand new Senator, he accepted a contributions from these crooks about $126,000, now for the record Senator McCain who has been a Senator for 35 years also accepted a contribution but only for $21,000.

I think it is clear who is at fault in this mess, there's a lot of crooks CEO's with Fannie, Freddie, Countrywide, Lehman, AIG and others, and they will get away with millions of dollars in their pockets, they should all go to jail and also the Democrats and Republicans who supported them in one way or another should all go to jail. The $700B bailout will not help me and my husband, it might help you but not me, because I have already sold my house and lost about $190k. I am praying that it will help all the struggling homeowners who are in foreclosure and unable to pay their homes and also bring all Americans together both Democrats and Republicans alike. I just want this country to be back where it used to be the Land of Opportunity where there is no black and white, no Democrats or Republicans but together, all for one and one for all, united we stand, and in peace at all.

Thank you for your time and God bless you.

Number 1- am not gonna sit back and listen to any of the rhetoric that ANY of these news outlets say, whether about the Democrats or Republicans. I am a critically thinking person who can judge and analyze without someone trying to shape and mold my opinion. I am in commercial real estate and knew before this bailout was announced that the only way to save this country's ENTIRE ECONOMIC MESS was to assist homeowners. You can sit there and defend McCain all you want but fact is fact- McCain NEVER spoke up about wanting to assist homeowners until he was down in the polls. He suspended his campaign and rushed to Washington, for what?! He did not do anything differently than Obama, Pelosi, Frank, and all the congressmembers both Democrat and Republican who voted for the bailout WITHOUT any Guarantees for HOMEOWNERS. Therefore do not sit here and preach ANY virtues about McCain vs Obama, when he did not stand up for the AMERICAN HOMEOWNER. I am tired of politicians telling us what they know we want to hear when it's convenient for them.

To say that McCain is less crooked and tainted than Obama because he received less campaign contributions from Fannie Mae than Obama is laughable! They are all out for themselves!

BTW- recently I was trying to find some contact info for the higher ups at my mortgage company and I stumbled on a site that gave out all the information on the vps. They even had party affiliation. And wouldn't you know, that most of the CEOs and Senior Executives of these banks and mortgage companies are REPUBLICAN AND CONTRIBUTE TO MCCAIN'S Campaign. So all of these politicians live in glass houses and should try very hard not to throw stones.

Well, McCain as I said is a man of action. He may not said anything because everybody is talking when they were having that emergency meeting. Besides the table belongs to President Bush at the time he was there.

From my own experience, Senator McCain was the only one who responded to me twice with his signature on his letterhead, his phone number, email address. I asked for help regarding loan modifications and other problems I was having at the time with Countrywide Home Loans.

I wrote Senator Obama, Senator Clinton, Senator Boxer, Senator Feinstein, President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and the Congresswoman of Hemet. The only one that responded to me was President Bush, vice President Cheney and Senator McCain. Actually Senator McCain wrote to me twice and gave his personal email and number to call him if none of the Senators I've mentioned above responded.

I have sold my house thanked God to loansafe.org and Moe and *** and Professor Shays and Andrew for giving me tips on how to handle Countrywide Home Loans loans. I have a letter from Senator McCain that I can put on the wall and maybe show to my grandchildren and tell them that only Senator McCain among the Senators I have written responded to my cry for help and Obama and Clinton and the rest of them didn't even bother at all.

I need a Senator like Senator McCain who can work for me in times of trouble and who is a man of action, not like Obama who is full of promise and words, but that's all there is to it useless words and empty promises.

I prophecy to you that if Obama will become the President, America will be the worst ever and will be erased from the map of the world, if you think America and each economy is in crisis right now, think again, if Obama becomes the President. But I think my God will not allow for Obama to win and God in His power will make Senator McCain the next President of the USA.

Once again, thank you and God bless you.

Re: Did anyone watch the debate last night?

Wow, Senator McCain wrote you back? That's actually pretty cool.

I am still somewhat on the fence regarding which candidate makes the best choice for president. As I stated the prez seems more of a figure head anyway, it seems the democratic congress run amuck with republican leaders easing regulating of banks (allowing them to carry more debt than they should) landed the whole in a heap of hot water.

There is pleanty of blame on both sides.

The bad thing is I like Obama's health plan way better than John McCain's. I mean a 6,000 tax credit for a family to buy healthcare - has he seen how much family coverage is on the group market? It's generally around 12,000 a year - of which your employer (if your employer still pays for health care) pays around 85% (average, some pay more - some shockingly less). The individual rates would end up being double that with those older and/or sicker paying through the nose for basic healthcare. (he wants to get rid of the employer tax credit - which is nuts!!)

So if his plan goes through, expect to pay at least 600 per month for health care, actually over 1,000 a month at first and then wait for you credit on your tax return.

Obama's, from what I can tell, is much better. And it isn't socialized medicine, which I don't think is such a good idea either.

There I go...off topic again....I think it's interesting the comment he made about the modification of loans - that provision is actually in the bill, the treasurer could do it now - and he is just saying he would make him do that.

Oh, also I heard on the news today Illinois and other state (state's attorney general) is asking other lenders to follow suit with Countrywide/Bank of America and start offering loan modifications. I hope they all get sued (like Countrywide)

Yep, that's cool of Senator McCain to write me not only once but twice, that's really cool.

I also heard in the news here in San Diego that Bank of America will approve loan modifications to lower all their interest and payments to remain in their homes for all 125,000 Countrywide Home Loans customers that were victims of predatory, fraud and deceptive practices by Countrywide Home Loans. I hope so too that all lenders will do the same.

Again it's not for me, the bailout of $700B is also not for me, I don't think homeowners who sold their homes and lost money through Short Sale will get anything, but I am really happy for those who are hanging on and struggling homeowners, I hope they cancel all your principal balances, to write down the balances to whatever the fair market value is and the payment is affordable and fixed 2.00% date for 30 years. Again I am dreaming but I wish you guys the best and I hope you all remain in your homes and be able to afford to make payments and BA or all lenders will do the loan modifications without fees, charges or penalties or closing costs.

Good luck everyone, wish you all the best among the best. God bless you.

Thanks,

Faith

This is an older subject but I too hope the lenders get the idea and go for the Mods instead of the "Hope for Homeowners" where everyone is a loser due to the gov. owning part of the home.....forever..
