Re: Final Housing Bill Passes House, Bush to Sign into Law

The bill FAILED! I am thrilled! It was going to save 400,000 homes, whoop dee doo. Was this going to be tied to a lottery??? There are millions of us, millions that need assistance, not 400,000. Wall Street, unwilling to work with us before we lose our homes is now reaping what they sow. I have been working with Wilshire to modify my loan since February 15th. I have followed all of the advice on this site. I have called (over 1,000 times) I have faxed (over 500 times) I have just made my last forebearance payment and guess what??? Wilshire has done exactly NOTHING to assist me. NOTHING. I have been waiting (since February) for the "investors" to approve a modification. When I tell you that I am unwilling to hand my home over, I mean it. All Wilshire has to do is lower my rate, that is it. It would save my home and although they would not get as much money as they had hoped (11%) they will make a profit. Why wouldn't the government suggest this? On top of losing my home, which I have no doubt that I will, the government expects me to rescue them? Wilshire has told me that I have been approved for a 5.5 % rate and they were willing to take $47,000 off of my principle. I was than given a new servicer who said Janet Kirkland had written the modification incorrectly and the "investors" retracted their permission to modify my loan. Than, I got a new servicer Mike, who told me he had rewritten my loan at 7% and there would be no decrease in my principle. OK...so send me the paperwork, he assured me it would be there in 7 days. I never received it. Than, the sherriff delivered the forebearance agreement, and I received one from a lawyer, The forebearance was full of lies, that Wilshire had provided me with the terms of the forebearance, that they would continue to work with me, blah, blah, blah, NONE of it was true. If I did not sign this agreement, full of untruths, my home would go directly into foreclosure. They blackmailed me. So, now the forebearance process is over. One week prior to my agreement being complete, I received a letter from Shelly Beckers at Wilshire saying they had made numerous attempts to reach me concerning my loan and to please call them as soon as possible. WELL! I called 57 times that day, Shelly Beckers did return my call, she did indeed apologize since Wishire had NEVER attempted to reach me, and now she is working on my modification. She assured me that she would give me the terms which Wilshire is attempting to modify my loan to and she would get back to me. I am counting the days, 4 more before I start calling Wilshire back 100 times a day. I have absolutely no faith that Wilshire is going to modify my loan, I am absolutely certain that I am going into foreclosure and this has all been a nightmare on my end and a fairy tale that Wilshire has spun for me and thousands of others just like me. The only happiness that I get from this is that Wilshire and all of the other companies that have lied to us, and put our homes and lives in jeopardy is that they will get what I have gotten NOTHING! I can no longer borrow $10, when I bought my home 6 years ago, my credit rating was 740, today it is 430, and it is all because I bought a home. Let me tell you, I am THRILLED that these banks are going under! WOOHOO! I don't want another dime of my money to go to any of these vultures! I am so happy that Americans scared the dickens out of members of Congress, they are so afraid of losing their job that they voted this bill down!! WOOHOO!

Canchafindme,

I feel your pain as well!

The housing bill that passed earlier this summer goes into effect on october first estimates are that it can help up to 400,000 homeowners who qualify (not everyone qualifies).

The bill that didn't get passed is the "Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 that didn't have much help for homeowners, see this link.

Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 Gives Little Hope for Homeowners

This may have been asked, but does anyone know if the 31% mortgage debt to income ratio includes the amount going to escrow?

I would think any mortgage related expense would be included. They will probably just look at your monthly payment.

***,
Pardon me for my stupid question. I know this bill is for struggling homeowners and it depends on the lender, but how about the homeowners who lost their homes due to Short Sale. Is there a break for us in this bill to at least recover 10% of what we have lost? I mean we have lost around
$190k+, do you know if Congress thought of us or they just think of themselves?

Just asking.

Thanks.

Faith,

If you are referring to the new "Bailout Bill", I have not had the chance to look over all of the 451 pages...........
from what I did gather..........it doesn't seem like much help for homeowners........I am not sure if there are excerpts in there for homeowners who have already sold the home as a short sale..........here it is if you would like to take a look and see if you can find anything on that.......
