    PennyMac misapplied payment, wont communicate

    In September 2011 CitiMortgage sold my load to PennyMac. I entered my original story on the CitiMortgage forum.

    Long story short it appears the last payment plus overage that I made to CitiMortgage was wired to PennyMac a couple days after the loan was transferred, aprox $4,500 total. PennyMac did not credit that money towards my payments, I don’t know where that money is currently and they show me in default. CitiMortgage actually has been helping me since the PennyMac research team refuses to talk to me (I was told by their first level Customer Service that the research team doesn’t speak to customers). CitiMortgage told me PennyMac acknowledges the wire, but is investigating the matter. It should take 5 minutes for PennyMac to be able to tell where the wire funds where applied, but a month later they won’t talk to me about it. I think I am getting the run around from PennyMac since they can keep collecting late fees from me due to this. Should I get an attorney to get me some answers? I am afraid the cost of an attorney will be more then my missing money.

    You had posted that Michael and Frank from Citi were helping you, were they not able to help you?

    You may want to keep posting in your original thread so that the rep from PennyMac can see your frustration as they probably will not get alerted to this new thread and it is easier to keep information in one place.

    Michael and Frank from Citi are helping me but they can only do so much, they can't force PennyMac to respond. I feel I am being forced to look into taking legal action so that is why I came to this thread.

    I understand, but this forum was originally being monitored by two attorneys from CA and FL so the information was limited to only those states and they are no longer active members, which is why we refer members to locate a reputable attorney for a consult in their state here;

    National Association of Consumer Advocates | Consumer Protection Advocates and Attorneys - Help for Consumers

    You may be able to contact a few to see if they are able to help in any way.

    Also that rep said they were going to be monitoring that other thread which is why you should also vent there that they are of no help to you.
