Wrong Social Security # on 2nd mortgage

I have been working with our 2nd loan holder, Franklin Credit Management for a modification since April. After receiving a letter denying the mod dated July 1st, I called today to discuss the reasons why. Before I could
get to that, the rep in Loss Mit went thru the usual verification questions and when she came to last 4 digits of husbands (loan in his name) SS# I
gave them to her. She then asked for mine, and his again, and back again,
and so on. It turns out they have the wrong SS# for him. It's a combo of
mine and his and has been that way since the loan was sold to them 20
months ago. Somehow because I am on the deed they had my SS# and
transferred them incorrectly, still not totally sure how this happened.

So, my question is, does this mean anything in terms of my husbands
responsibility to this loan? Are there any loopholes that this can open for us? But the time I got off the phone today they had semi-approved us for
a 12 month int rate reduction, lowering our pymt from $972 to $694. I'll
believe it when I see the paperwork as I've been thru this before with them in May. But, they want my husband to send photocopies of his SS
card, Drvrs license, and a letter verifying he is the mortgage holder and this is his correct SS#. I actually asked if we could leave it this way for
now as it is not even reporting into his credit report, I never even noticed
that! But she said that would be fraud.

Any thoughts out there??

Question Re: Wrong Social Security # on 2nd mortgage

I don't know what to tell you but that my daughter and I are in about the same situation.

Both of the home loans are in her name but both uses my social security number. We are both on the deed. When asked both loan companies what to do the told me to contact the law office that did closing. We did that and was told to contact our originator who said they did know what to do either.

This has been like this for 5 years now.

I would like to know what can be done. I would like for my house to be in my name since its reporting on my credit.

Re: Wrong Social Security # on 2nd mortgage

Wow, I guess this is pretty common then. I would think your current bank
holding the mortgage would be able to change it. Ours said they could but they need the documentation to do so. An in our case it's not reporting to
either of our credit reports because the number they have is a combo of both, it might actually be a number belonging to some other person. I wish
this had never come up in our case as it's not on the credit reports so if
we did go late it wouldn't matter
