I think I may have postedmy question in the wrong place. Do I need an attorney?

After being told by Sovereign Bank for the second time that I don't qualify for a modification, they advised me to get an attorney. My question is why? Will that help me stay in my home? Do the banks only speak to attorneys, or what?

Well, that's a new one... most of the lenders seem to be telling everyone NOT to get an attorney... California is even passing a law that seems to prevent anyone from helping borrowers negotiate loan modifications... even attorneys... and guess who greases a lot of legislative palms to get such laws passed?

I would suggest you open a thread in the loan modification section. More people read and post there. Have you looked into NACA? Many people have had better luck with them. They are a non-profit HUD counselor who will advocate for you. They are free.
