You better make sure what your local government will be doing with your tax rate before you assume your taxes will be going down.

Most cities and towns are in such bad financial shape that they will most certainly make adjustments to the taxed rate to compensate for the lower property values. Another words even though the value of your home has gone down you will most likely not see your total property tax going down and probably will see an increase instead.
