Hi Kelly!
Yes volunteering is not mandatory; but after you get into the process and realize NACA is truly fighting on your behalf (for free), it kind of makes you want to give back.
As far as disclosing the personal information, I think the good outweighs the negative and when you look at the big picture, (which is to have an affordable payment), you don't even sweat that small stuff.
I trust NACA with my info but you have to decide for yourself what's going to work for you.
