| HomeQ Modification My husband and I are currently in the fight of our lives in an attempt to save our home of 10 years. We have an ARM set to adjust in June of this year. We have been trying to talk to HomeQ servicing since last summer to get them to work with us and modify our loan . That is when we found out the company my husband works for was going to be laying them off at least 1-2 weeks every month. One of their reps had the audacity to tell me that my husband should get another job since he keeps getting laid off. He has been with the same company for over 35 years and this is the first time he has ever experienced a layoff. That same rep also told me that I should go work, when I had just told him I was disabled. It finally took going through an attorney ( friend) to get them to do anything and just this week, our attorney friend received paperwork from HomeQ for a loan modification. We are gathering all the information they have requested to send to them including the hardship letter but I have an uneasy feeling that they will blow us off again. Our balance due is almost $200,000.00 and our monthly payment right now is $1698.00 at 9.75%, not including taxes and insurance. We are current on payments, only by the grace of some relatives who have helped us and by some financial stretching. My husband took all of this years vacation pay in cash so that we could pay our taxes and the rest went to house payment. After this month's layoff, I am not sure we will be able to make the house payment. I am wondering if I should also go through NACA or should I try this route first and if it fails, then NACA?? Thank you for any advice you may be able to give us. |
