THE NACA WORKSHOP!
Ok, this is how it went... We were told to go an hour ahead to be on standby in case people who were scheduled did not show up. They book about 300 people twice a month in the LA area. For three counties, they only have one NACA office, so I think mine is gonna take a while. Anyway, we could have just shown up on time and not an hour early as they didn't take roll-call or ask if anyone was on standby....we could all just take the booklet and go in.
The workshop included people that are in the process of buying a home and the Home Save program. There were twice as many people there to start the process to buy than the Home Save program. The worshop was 4 hours with a 15 minute break in between. They went back and forth between the purchase data and the Home Save program which made it hard to follow a bit, but.....I know all about their purchase info so I can tell friends who do not own yet...(NACA has the best program I have ever seen!)
Anyway, it basically went over all the on-line steps that need to occur. It seemed to me that the workshop is pre-on-line steps. I had already done all the steps and submission. So I actually think I didn't have to go to the workshop. But it went over everything in depth that I have already read and I have more certainty on what needs to happen. At the end of the workshop, you fill in your attendance sheet and they say they will email you your NACA ID in one week. Well, we already had one, so I wrote ours on the top of the attendance sheet and spoke to a counselor who was surprised I was at the workshop since I already had an ID and had submitted all the data. But said it was good I came. I also discussed the confusion with the appointment, they said it must be a mistake as the Home Save people only have an over the phone consult and someone would be calling me.
I do have to say that thye need all the help they can get! If you can contibute....do so. I am gonna try to do more than 5 functions this year. they showed videos of some of the things they have done to curtail predatory lending, and since the help from them is free, I feel I owe it back to them ten fold. It will feel good to contribute to a group that is doing so much for communities.....Our government should attend and take some notes on budgeting!!!
Let me know if anyone has a specific question.....

I will see if I can answer it.
