Yes, I've notice a pattern with the initial letters. I went through the same confusion. In my case the initial letters were simply procedures spelled out in my loan documents under the default and remedies section. I received an "Intent to accelerate" letter, and a short period of time to "cure" (cough up the cash) before they moved on with official recording of forclosure steps.
