Question Re: Countrywide Hardship

I am two months behind on my mortgage due to illness.

I spoke with one of the lawyers listed on your forum- Jim Griswald. He wants 3000.00 up front? Is this standard? Are there any hidden costs to come?

Has using a lawyer been found to be more effective then going it alone? Is it faster? Can you get better interest or principle reductions?

Can I just use the lawyer for a letter to send to coutrywide-to get them to listen with the threat of a law suit?
