Well, our circumstances are different in that we are 5 mos. behind...BUT we do have a fixed-rate subprime loan at 7.5% with Countrywide, and they told me I definitely qualify for the new modification program. I wouldn't advise becoming delinquent on your loan, but the threat might spur some action.

I also noticed that so far, they have been very quick about getting info together for me, and I only had to fax in a month's worth of paystubs to get the ball rolling. I would keep pushing the retention department. The number I call is 1-800-669-0102.
