| Countrywide modification papers signed but now I have terrible credit score, and unemployed Hello everyone, and I want to say thank you to Moe for creating a forum for homeowners going through the stress of of trying to keep the biggest investment of ones life; their home, from going into foreclosure.
Mine is a very long story, and a very complicated one, so I'll start at the begining. Sorry for the length. I think it's needed to understand how I fell from a credit score of 750 to low one of 545 and slowly creeping lower and possibly losing a home.
I'm a divorced father of two daughters, ages 11, and, 12, and they live with their mother in Arizona.
I've done everything right since I bought my first home in 2002. It was a condo for 118 thousand and a fixer. My ex wife divorced me for the reason of finding herself, she walked out of our rental home with my daughters in 1998, and left me with three months back rent owed. I have joint legal custody, and 50/50 primary care. I had to live with my mother for 4 years to save the money to buy my first place. I'm a freelance videographer/cameraman, and have been employed steady at one place, or another for the last 20 years.
I sold my condo, and bought a house, and then two years later sold that, and bought the house I thought I would stay in forever. When I bought my condo in 2002 my ex got very jealous, and did something stupid that had us in Family court for close to 4 years battling over custody of my daughters. It nearly left me broke from attorny fees. the reason she tried for full custody was her parents had bought her a home in Arizona and she could not leave the state under our divorce agreement.
In July of 2005 I relented, and decided it would be better for my daughters to live in a home in Arizona then constantly moving around here because there mother wasn't happy. I started searching online for homes, and work in Arizona to live near my daughters until they graduated high school. That was the plan anyway. I put my home up for sale in Long Beach, Ca.
I met a Realtor through one of my search's online, and we began corresponding. I would visit my daughter one weekend a month and look at all the homes I found and research the community and the builder incentives since the market was slowly then. I would meet with the realtor and we would look at some together. It took eight months for my home to sell.
I decided on a builder that had an incentive of paying me back fifteen hundred dollars for two years if I made the the mortgage payment on the first of every month. it would have cost me eight hundred dollars to live in the house for two years while I searched for work and I had substantial savings in reserve to cover me for two years if I couldn't find work or I just could not adapt to living in Arizona since living California my whole life.
So far a pretty good plan I thought. The realtor new about my child custody battle and the reasons for moving and she offered me a job as her assistant to market her over the internet and lead prospective buyers to her. She would pay me one thousand dollars for every client she closed on that I forwarded to her.
She had big plans. She knew that I was looking to invest in the future in a carwash, some how that got turned into a resturaunt bar with two other guys using our savings and credit to get it started. It never happened.
Anyway she got me to go with her lender instead for a 1/4 or 1/2 percent less in a fixed rate that the builder on my home was offering with no incentive. Thinking that she had these business ideas and she hired me to work for her I went with her loan agent and lost my incentive. I was paying the full mortgage instead of only eight hundred.
Somehow I went from looking to buy another property that was a section eight housing 8 room motel in downtown Phoenix with a positive cashflow to signing my name with her corporation on a un secured loan for fifty thousand( I knew it was a bad idea) and buying a home with her as a silent partner at 40 % co broke and using my savings as the down payment and re imbursing me the twenty thousand with the money from the un secured loan. In a verbal agreement I was to receive eighteen thousand dollars on closing of the second house. I never recieved payment and she never upheld her end of the deal by also paying half the mortgage. The house sat empty for 6 months until I found a renter, but the rent only covers half of the payment and the house that "we" bought at four hundred thousand is now worth a little over two hundred.
Besides all that when I moved to Arizona in August of 2007 I wasn't feeling well and went the emergency room and had to have an angioplasty. so I barely worked in Arizona and the realtor conned me, and my savings was gone.
I was 3 months behind on the house payment and tried to pay and bring it current but with no hope of finding decent wages in Arizona I could not make ends meet and finally got countrywide to modify because I was going to let everything go. the realtor stopped paying on the un secured loan and I found out laterthat theirs another loan not paid with my signature on it. I know it's forged.Another story.
Back to countrywide I was in constant contact with them even before I missed the first payment and they kept saying they couldn't do anything until I missed. I missed.
Now I had to rent my home that I live in and I have a one year lease with the person in the other home and i sent all this documents to countrywide and finally said I would give them the keys to both places and take two foreclosures on my credit, and walk away. I also brought up the fact that the head CEO was giving his friends and senators loans. Three days latter I had fed ex drop of the paperwork for modification and I signed them and fed exed them back this month was the first payment for a lower rate fixed for forty years.
Does any of this make sense? crib notes I had to fall behind on payments before countrywide would talk to me. I paid one months payment after missing three. Then said I would walk away since the home is basiclly two hundred thousand dollars less then what I paid for it. i had surgery and had to rent both homes and now I live with my mother again looking for work in California on unemployment and credit score of 545. And hoping that the check I sent for the payment to countrywide and the paperwork is legit.
I have a headache and can't sleep or eat and I'm angry at my stupidity.
Long? I told you it would be. |
