Re: Money Tips for Those Who Are Struggling I posted this elsewhere on the forum some time ago but I think it's worth mentioning again here.....
ANGEL FOOD MINISTRIES
It is food distribution at hundreds of local churches nationwide. There are no financial guidelines so you don't have to "prove your need". You want inexpensive food so you can lower your grocery costs and feed the kids....that's what it's all about. You order the food at the begining of the month and it's delivered to the church in your area a few weeks later. Below is the menu for January.....ALL FOR $30.00.
5...4 oz. bacon-wrapped beef fliets
1...4 lb. chicken leg quarters
4...8 oz. lean hamburger steaks
1...1.5 lbs. beef short ribs
1...20 oz. Supreme pizza
1...10 oz. deli sliced turkey breast
1...3 lbs. apples
1...35 oz. crinkle cut french fries
1...16 oz. frozen green beans
1...16 oz. onion rings
1...14 oz. fancy ketchup
1...26 oz. pasta sauce
1...16 oz. pasta
1...16 oz. pinto beans
1...7.5 oz. mac & cheese
1...dessert item
This is called a Basic Unit and it's 30 bucks. You can order as many of the basic units as you wish. They also offer various bonus items for purchase. Ordering for January is over but February is just around the corner. I'm not sure of the exact name of the website but surely you can google Angel Food Ministries to check it out and locate a distribution church in your area.
I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say......"After you've cut your expenses as much as possible, the only thing left to reduce is spending on groceries". Certainly, you need to pay the utilities to keep the kids warm at night. You have to pay for medicines (and the one medicine my autistic son takes just went up to a $75.00 co-pay) and we're forced to pay and ARM AND A LEG for gas to get from here to there.....so you spend as little as possible on food. Go Figure!
