Or you could do what my ex-husband did to me. Walk away from everything , move out of state leaving your ex-wife to deal with the debt collectors because they can't find you and don't forget to stop using your social security number so your wife can't collect any child support from you. Oh, yes, there are "penalties" against deadbeat parents who do this but its been my experiance they are not enforced very effectively. That said, my ex owes me close to $200,000 in child support. If I could get my hands on that money I could pay off the mortgage on my house and wouldn't need a loan mod in the first place.
