Former Manager of St. Charles Business Sentenced on Major Fraud Charges

(Source: FBI) – ST. LOUIS—Eric Engle was sentenced to 27 months in prison involving his scheme to defraud his employer of approximately $342,430. In addition to his prison sentence, he was ordered to pay full restitution of $342,430.

According to court documents, Engle was employed by LabCorp Inc., of St. Charles County, as a patient service technician territory manager for the North Central Division of Lab Corp Inc. between 2007 and September 2011. LabCorp runs patient centers that services people who are directed by doctors to have blood samples analyzed. Engle’s duties included the collection of money for services rendered as well as payment of expenses necessary to manage the centers. During his employment with LabCorp, Engle created a fictitious cleaning service company called OptiClean. One of the clients was LabCorp. Engle created fraudulent invoices of approximately $342,430 to LabCorp for services that were never rendered.

Engle, 37, St. Charles, Missouri, pled guilty in March to one felony count of wire fraud and appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Jean C. Hamilton.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael W. Reap handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
