OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA - A Southern California loan modification firm, First American Law Center was raided yesterday by agents form the FBI, IRS and the State Bar of California. Armed with search warrants and firearms, law enforcement teams searched two business related to the alleged mortgage rescue scam.
The first location that was searched was the First American Law Center 615 Mission Ave. in downtown Oceanside, and the second location was the Lead Source at 2101 El Camino Real who provided marketing for the law firm.
The law center was operated by California lawyer, Dean Chandler who was apparently in Arizona when agents raided his company. Chandler is currently licensed by the California Bar. He has been practicing law since 1992.
Another firm that was searched by agents is the Lead Source. This company was a national call center that furnished leads to the First American Law Center.
No arrests were made during the execution of the search warrants by law enforcement.

So, I sent these idiots $3,450 in January and they said they could modify my home loan. They were not able to do a thing for me, and on May 10th I requested a refund but they have not responded to me since 6/13. Do I have any options?

THEY ARE NOT A SCAM. They have been open and working since this happened. If they were a scam the FBI would have locked the doors

Do you mean they are impersonating the FBI or the FBI is contacting the law center clients?

They are a SCAM! They have NOT been open since this has all gone down. I have called numerous times and not once have I got a live person. I have left several voicemails and sent several emails without a response. After speaking with the FBI, they indeed have confirmed that their accounts are frozen and are not operating. I phone my lender this week and I have got success in the few conversations we had. I was also told that during the entire 5 month process where 1st American Law Center was supposedly negotiating with my lender, my lender received (1) correspondence asking for a 5.5% reduction in my interest rate. That was it, no further negotiating or anything. PEOPLE, cooperate with the FBI, stop payment through the credit card you used to pay these people, and file numerous complaints through the BBB.

We gave this shower $4000 dollars and they refuse to call us back. Countless hours faxing in paper work and our own time wasted. One family I also know paid them in full as well but couldn’t hold out any longer and lost their home. Disgrace. I hope to catch up with these donkeys when the timing is right.

I was first screwed by Countrywide, then by this company! $3495 and for what? I wasted all that money and a year of my time faxing docs, more docs, trying to track them down, etc. Then, BOA refused me any help. Why? Because I had a few dollars in my bank acct. OMG! Then, when I asked for my refund from 1st, they tell me they were raided by FBI.
How can this be??? HOW!!!?
If, this company is a fraud, they all need to go to jail for a lifetime!

We also paid 1st American $3975 about 5 months ago. We have had no success in communicating with anyone from the firm since the raid happened. I feel foolish for being scammed, but does anyone know if there is a way to get our $$$ back?
Thanks…

I can’t believe they have done this to all of you, I just got papers from the FBI today! The Law Center actually helped us and we got a great loan mod just a couple months ago. This is so crazy, I have actually referred them to people. I don’t understand why we didn’t get scammed. I had been trying for a year and a half to work with the lender myself, but they got it done in four months. I am really sorry to all of you and I don’t really want to give the FBI any good feedback about First American, we don’t deserve a refund, it was worth what we paid. I hope everyone of you get your money back.

Why the Federal Government can not get enough information from this 1st American Law center Co. to indict them. They scammed me out of $1750.00 saying they could help lower my mortgage and ended up not helping me at all. I asked for a refund and they did not give me a refund either. What should I do I need my money badly.
