According to research company JD Power and Associates overall customer satisfaction with homeowners insurance increased significantly in 2009. The yearly study, which is in its ninth year of existence, had an overall satisfaction rating increase for the first time in five years. According to the report homeowners insurance companies increased their satisfaction rating by 21 points from 2008 up to a score of 773 out of 1000.
There are several reasons for this jump in customer satisfaction according to JD Power and Associates. Improvement to the price, policy offerings, interaction, billing and payment and claims are the major factors that lead to the increased score. Another major contributor to this report are the perceived notions of discounts being offered by the insurance companies. Several of these companies started to include itemized documentation of discounts their policy holders which lead to increased satisfaction scores of up to 90 points.
Amica Mutual tops the list for an astounding eight year in a row proving that they really know what customers want when it comes to homeowners insurance. Amica Mutual did so well in fact that they were rated the highest in every single category receiving a 5 out of 5 for each category. These five major categories include Overall Experience, Contacting the Insurer, Policy Offerings, Billing and Payment and Pricing.
